Polypropylene fibres for concrete
Construction

Description SikaFiber® PP-12 VN are high quality micro monofilament polypropylene

fibres in compliance with the requirements of ASTM C1116-91 Standard
Specification for Fibre-Reinforced Concrete and Shotcrete.
They are designed to minimize and control shrinkage cracks in concrete.
SikaFiber® PP-12 VN are available in premeasured, ready to use degrada-
ble bags for 1m3 of concrete.
Sika® Fiber PP-12 VN can also be used to significantly improve the fire
resistance properties of concrete
Uses SikaFiber® PP-12 VN fibres reinforce fresh concrete and reduce its shrink-
age cracking.
SikaFiber® PP-12 VN are used for:
■ Slabs
■ Pavements
■ Precast concrete products
■ Heavy-duty industrial floors
■ Overlays
■ Shotcrete
■ Improved Fire Resistance in Tunnels, Basements, and Buildings
Polypropylene fibres are not intended to replace steel reinforcement.
Advantages Due to their fineness and a special surface treatment, SikaFiber® PP-12 VN
are uniformly distributed to provide an internal reinforcement to:
■ Reduce plastic shrinkage cracking
■ Improve fresh concrete cohesion
■ Improve impact and abrasion resistance
■ Improve concrete durability
■ Fibers melt under high temperature to reduce concrete spalling
Instruction for use
Consumption Simply add SikaFiber® PP-12 VN to the concrete mixer at a rate of 1 bag
(=0.6kg) per cubic metre. A mixing time of 3 to 5 minutes is necessary to
ensure the bag dissolution and therefore a uniform fibre dispersion. Better
dispension, SikaFiber® PP-12 VN should be mixed into batching after con-
crete aggregate crushing together with mechanism.
SikaFiber® PP-12 VN are compatible with all Sika admixtures.
For fire resistance a dosage of 2 - 4 kg/m3 is recommended. Dosage to be
determined by trials.
The standard procedures for placing, finishing and curing concrete shall
be followed. In addition, proper reinforcement and joint spacing should be
observed.

Shelf life Stored in dry condition, SikaFiber® PP-12 VN have a shelf life of 3 years
Packaging SikaFiber® PP-12 VN fibres are available in 0.6 kg/bag supplied at 28
bags per box (16.8 kg.)
