Dispatch and packing instructions

5 Package marking
5.1 The supplier has to mark every single package at least at two opposite sides of each package with a
weatherproof label on the outside.

5.2 The size of the dispatch marking depends on the size of the package, but should be in a legible
condition anyway. Special treatment notes have to be applied on the package (see Appendix 14.4)

6 Packing data
6.1 All packing data have to be indicated on the documents defined by KUKA.

For Direct Deliveries see Appendix 14.1

For Indirect Deliveries see Appendix 14.2

6.2 Every packing list must indicate clear packaging numbers (colli numbers), outer dimensions of single
packages in cm, and the weight of the package in kg.

6.3 Extra charges or delay in transport or customs clearance resulting from wrong information of the
supplier will be invoiced to the supplier.

7 Packing
7.1 The supplier is responsible for a safe and roadworthy transport packing. The packing must ensure a
suitable protection of the goods, considering the following points:

 Material quality
 Transport route and transport duration
 If necessary, intermediate storage in the open air
 Stresses in transit
 Modes of transport (truck, aircraft, ocean vessel)

7.2 Climatic conditions on the transport route and in the country of destination

7.3 The KUKA Shipment Department must be informed if the material can only be loaded or unloaded
with a crane. Furthermore, corresponding lifting points shall be attached.

7.4 The goods have to be packed such way that optimum use of the carrier (truck, container) is possible.
The single packages, if possible, shall be stackable and allow cargo to bestowed on top of them.

7.5 Depending on KUKA definition the packing has to be chosen so that the material is protected for at
least 12 months. Depending on the quality of the goods they shall also be protected against humidity,
corrosion, or other chemical and mechanical influences.

Dispatch and packing instructions

7.6 Acceptance of the packing by KUKA must be ensured any time, we expect access permission required
for this for KUKA employees. If special documentation (photos, net weights, ...) is required, this will
be indicated with the purchase order already.
Depending on the mode of transport the packing should be made as follows:

 Transport by land

For dispatch by truck the goods have to be packed on pallets or other bases. If needed, the goods will be
wrapped in blister foil. They have to be covered with foil, to be shrinked and marked. Corrosion protection
will be applied, if needed.

 Transport by sea

Seaworthy packing is required for ocean transportation. Due to strong influence by water, wind,
uncontrolled shocks, and rough treatment the packing must give special protection to the material.
Material susceptible to corrosion and sensitive material has to be provided with a sufficient quantity of
drying agent and shrink-wrapped in suitable foil.

Principally, the circumference of the packing unit shall never exceed the loading dimension of a 40' HC
container. If this is not possible, a previous agreement is mandatory.

Observe the maximum dimensions for truck transportation if the goods are packed in boxes or crates (see
point 4.2).

 Transport by air

For airfreight consignments use pallets, cartons, or boxes. Depending on the goods, choose a packing suitable
for air transport, keep the chargeable weight as low as possible.

8 Loading
8.1 The supplier is responsible for safe transport and load securing.

8.2 For loading on truck the goods have to be lashed on the cargo area and be secured according to the
dynamic forces to be expected.

8.3 For loading in ocean containers by the supplier the goods have to be stowed seaworthy and be
secured against slipping in the container. The container has to be sealed with a container seal.

8.4 Every carrier (truck, container, ...) has to be used optimally. Avoid any empty spaces and stowage
loss.

9 Hazardous goods
Point out to hazardous goods already with notification (point 4.3). The supplier will add the packing list,
safety data sheets, and all documents corresponding to the goods. Hazardous goods have to be packed and
treated according to the hazardous materials regulations and legal specifications corresponding to the
carrier.

10 Transport of accompanying documents

The supplier will provide all documents required for execution of the transport. These documents have to be
agreed with the KUKA Shipment Department prior to dispatch.

11 Foreign trade law

14.1 The supplier must inform KUKA of the required official authorizations and obligations to notify the
authorities for exporting and importing the subject matters of the contract.

14.2 The supplier is obliged in particular to comply with the export-control regulations relevant at the
time of delivery and to inform KUKA - unsolicited, in written form, and no later than at the time of
delivery - of any export-control marking of the subject matters of the contract or parts thereof,
especially that required by the regulations of the governing law, the EU, or the USA in effect at the
time of delivery.

14.3 For each subject matter of the contract or part thereof affected by the export control, the relevant
export-control list and the list position must be designated. Immediately after having taken note of a
position concerned KUKA has to be informed hereof by written evidence (already before/after
purchase order).

14.4 Furthermore, regarding the subject matter of the delivery, the supplier has to advise to KUKA the HS-
code concerning the commodity chart for the foreign trade statistic, this also applies to parts
(individual tariff classification, if necessary).

14.5 In case of need, the supplier will provide to KUKA a supplier's declaration or rather any documents
required by a customs authority or any other authority. In case that the declaration was found to be
false and claims are made, the supplier is obliged to exempt KUKA from all obligations upon first
written request.

Dispatch and packing instructions

12 Export customs declaration for indirect deliveries

On exportation, any commodity must be declared according to the foreign trade law. The supplier must make
an export declaration (MRN) for commerce with third countries.

As a matter of principle, issuing of the export documents has to be agreed with the KUKA Shipment
Department before any dispatch, and KUKA will be provided with a copy of all documents.

Furthermore, the HS-Code to be used and any preferential agreements have to be clarified with KUKA.

The export declaration is made as follows:

Exporter: KUKA
Declarant: Supplier

Unless otherwise agreed, use the value of the supplier invoice to KUKA as invoice amount.

13 Environmental protection
KUKA Systems GmbH and KUKA Industries GmbH constantly strive to avoid unnecessary transport distances,
empty cargo spaces, and any superfluous packaging for reasons of environmental protection.

We may ask all our suppliers to go this way with us.
