Apart from reviewing and emphasizing the previous guidelines mainly focusing on small and medium enterprises,

The course will cover relevant portions of SS 506: Part 2: 2009, Singapore Standard on Occupational Safety
and Health Management, pertaining to hazard identification, risk assessment and determining controls.

Lecturer will bring into the course his extensive experience with risk management theory and practice.

FOR WHOM
This one-day course will be useful to engineers, contractors, and other occupational health and safety professionals
who wish to learn or review the existing risk management practices with special reference to the new Code. This
course will update their background to meet the additional recommendations beyond the guidelines available thus
far on risk assessment and control.
Management cadre may also do well to note the differences in the new Code from the previous guidelines and
understand their implications, because it may help in more efficient risk management and improve the safety
culture in their organizations. It will help clarify and explain many of the new concepts and methodologies
introduced in the new Code of Practice for Risk Management.
Emphasis will be on the implementation of the Code provisions and practical application of the principles with
particular reference to the modifications and additions.

LECTURER’S PROFILE
PROFESSOR N. KRISHNAMURTHY
B.Sc., B.E.(Civil), M.S.(CE),
Ph.D., F.ASCE, F.SSSS, F.IE(India), M.ASEE, M.ASSE, M.SISO, M.IE(Singapore)
Professor Krishnamurthy is currently Safety Consultant and Trainer in Singapore.
He is an Approved Consultant, Auditor, and Accredited Trainer of the Singapore
Ministry of Manpower, consulting for and teaching safety-related courses at IES
Academy, Singapore Construction Safety and Consultancy (SCAL) Academy, etc.
He was Chief Facilitator for safety-related workshops conducted by MOM and
SCAL. He consults for MOM, and Singapore and Indian companies.
He has more than five decades of teaching, research, and consultancy experience, including teaching short
courses for practicing engineers, in U.S.A., Singapore, India, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. In U.S.A. he held civil
engineering professorial positions in three American universities, in the last of which he was Department
Chairman. He has also held senior positions in the National University of Singapore, and the Mysore
University in India. He has written three books, co-authored or contributed to three more volumes, and
published over 85 refereed papers. He currently teaches at NUS, University of Newcastle (Australia) –
Singapore, IES, BCA, and other organisations.
For many years Prof. Krishnamurthy has been teaching courses and consulting related to workplace safety,
risk management and accident investigation. In Dec. 2009 he gave a course on Risk Management for Society
of Risk Analysis at Baltimore, MD, USA. He has written a book: “Introduction to Risk Management”, which has
been prescribed as text for the course “Risk Assessment and Management” at University of Newcastle
(Singapore). He conducts research for the Workplace Safety and Health Institute of Singapore.

Registration
Any registration, whether on-line or fax will be on a first-come-first-served basis and will only be confirmed upon
receipt of full payment by Engineers Singapore Pte Ltd unless otherwise invoice to company.

Closing Date & Payment


The closing date of the event will be 1 week prior to event commencement date or earlier. Cheques should be crossed ‘A/C

Confirmation of Registration
Confirmation of registration will be given at least 1 week before the commencement date via email. If you do not
receive the said confirmation email, you are required to contact IESA at 6463 9211 during office hours.
IESA reserves the right to allow only confirmed registrants to attend the Event.

Withdrawals/Refunds of Fees
Written notice at least 1 week in advance before the commencement of the event

Full course fee shall be refunded subjected to 4.5% transection charge.

No show of participant would not be accepted as a valid reason for withdrawal/refund.
One time replacement is allowed only if written notice is received by us at least 1 week before the commencement of the
event. However, when an IES member is replaced by a non-member, the participant has to pay the difference in the
relevant fees.

Cancellation/Postponement
Changes in Venue, Dates, Time and Speakers for the Events can occur due to unforeseen circumstances. IES reserves the
full rights to cancel or postpone the Event under such circumstances without prior reasons. Every effort, however, will be
made to inform the participants or contact person of any cancellation or postponement.
Fees will be refunded in FULL if any Event is cancelled by IESA.
