Initial Response Question Selected: Did you enjoy the story?


Initial Response Answer: I didn't really enjoy the story because at first it was a little
confusing, but towards the end I got to understand it.

Initial Understanding Answer:Yes, there was a part that made me confused and it was
when the story introduced new characters.

Developing Understanding Answer:The title is significant because the novel is a short
story collection and has multiple stories within it so the title doesn't really connect with
the whole book.

Developing a Critical Stance Answer:No this story is not plausible because it's a fiction
novel and has all kinds of made up stories within it.

because i enjoy her writing style and creative stories.

Initial Response Question Selected:Did any characters affect you? If you could be any
character who would it be?
Initial Response Answer:There wasn't really a character that affected me, but if I could
be any character in the novel I would be the narrator because they are in every story
within the novel.

Initial Understanding Answer:So far Mrs.Connin meets a little boy that has the same
name as the preacher and wants to take him to church to meet the preacher, and hope
that he can help him.

characters within this short story.

Developing Understanding Answer:The author is using a lot of foreshadowing and
internal and external conflict but it's mainly internal conflict within this short story.

this work and others that you've read?

Developing a Critical Stance Answer:This book is very unique compared to all of the
other novels that i've read, due to the fact that its a short story collection. Most of the
time I mainly read nonfiction novels that are based on one story.
