UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES(UAVs)

Drones are more formally known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or

unmanned aircraft systems (UASes). Essentially, a drone is a flying robot that can
be remotely controlled or fly autonomously through software-controlled flight
plans in their embedded systems, working in conjunction with onboard sensors
and GPS.
In aviation and in space, a drone refers to an unpiloted aircraft or spacecraft. On
Earth, drones are often used for military purposes because they don't put a pilot's
life at risk in combat zones.

DRONE COMPONENTS
1.Standard Propellers. The propellers are usually located at the front of the
drone/quadcopter.
2.Pusher Propellers.
3.Brushless Motors.
4.Landing Gear.
5.Electronic Speed Controllers.
6.Flight Controller.
7.The Receiver.
8.The Transmitter.

INTRODUCTION

Drones are used in situations where manned flight is considered too risky or
difficult. They provide troops with a 24-hour "eye in the sky", seven days in a
week .drones will be legal across india from December 1. During daytime
flights, drones can be flown to a height of up to 400 ft. The use of drones by
civilians is currently restricted by the Directorate General of Civilian Aviation.
on February 2,2002 that the CIA first used an unmanned Predator drone in a
targeted killing. The strike was in Paktia province in Afghanistan, near the city of
Khost. The intended target was Osama bin Laden, or at least someone in the CIA
had thought so.

ADVANTAGES

1.Saves Lives: The most obvious advantage of military drones is that they
greatly reduce putting military personnel in harm's way or in combat. This is
because alot of these drones are unmanned and therefore there is not human life
in danger.
2.Accuracy: Drones can have more pinpoint accuracy from greater distances,
thus reducing collateral damage to civilians and infrastructure. This works well in
terms of ensuring accountability in the military ranks.

DISADVANTAGES

1.Take Over: The worst case scenario is when drones or a fleet of drones have
been commandeered or taken control by the enemy. While security measures
help make this possibility more difficult, it will never be impossible.
2. Limited Abilities: Drones have obvious limitations. For example, they cannot
communicate with civilians for more detailed intelligence. Drones cannot capture
surrendering military personnel, abandoned hardware, or military bases.
