PRESSURE TRANSMITTER (ELECTRONIC TYPE)

Calibration set up:

Calibrator
Calibrating Pressure
Source

TEST GAUGE

-Hydraulic oil (DWT,

Hydraulic Pump
- Pneumatic (Air, N2)

- Calibration
Hydraulic oil procedure:
(DWT,
Hydraulic 1. Install the Pressure Transmitter in the vertical position at test
Pump) bench and
- Pneumatic connect calibrator instrument (as per manual).

2. Without pressure on PT, adjust “zero adjusts screw” so that output

of the
miliammeter indicate 4 mA, and record on as found data.

3. Apply calibrating pressure equal to the 100 % range of the PT and

adjust
“span adjust screw” so that output of the miliammeter indicate 20 mA,
and
record on as found data.

1. Repeat step 1 -2 until 4 - 20 mA output is achieved over required

pressure
range.

1.Apply calibrating pressure equal to 50 % of the full range and adjust

linearity
(if any) as necessary so that output on the miliammeter indicate 12 mA.

2. Repeat step 1 - 4 until reading are found correct and record the
corresponding output signal and/or scale reading at 0, 25, 50, 75, 100
% of
the instrument range rising and falling on a calibration record sheet as
leave
data.
5F. LEVEL TRANSMITTER (DISPLACER TYPE)

Calibration set up: Bench calibration

1/2” Ø
Vinyl Tubing

Drain Valve

Calibration procedure:

1. Install Level Transmitter on framing support and make mounting as

shown on drawing.

2. Fill up the water up to zero level of displacer (marked X) and adjust

“zero adjust screw” so that output read 4 mA on mA DC meter.

3. Fill up the water up to 100 % level of displacer (marked Z) and adjust

“span adjust” so that output read 20 mA on mA DC meter.

4. Repeat step 1 - 2 until 4 - 20 mA achieved without having to re-adjust

zero & span adjusting screw.

5. Apply calibrating level equal to 50 % of 100 % level of displacer

(marked Y) to check linearity of transmitter on test and adjust “linearity
adjust” (if any) until output of standard mA DC meter is 12 mA.

6. Repeat step 1 - 4 as required and record the level at which the

transmitter has been calibrated for 0, 25, 50, 75, 100 % of the
instrument range rising and falling on a calibration report sheet.
See Note below

NOTE: Adjust (SG) before calibration, if fluid used is other than as

specified in data sheet. (Usually water)

If calibration by water multiply the distance between low connection and

high connection by the SG specified in data sheet, this give the 100 %
level to be used with water.
Supposing the level is A 14” size the SG is the 100 % level will be 14” X
0.8 = 11,2 “

0 % = Empty level
50 % = 11.2/2 = 5.”6
100 % = 11.2 “
5F. TEMPERATURE TRANSMITTER (RTD)

Calibration set up:

Decade Box

1. Calibration procedure:

1. Refer to the Resistance versus Temperature Conversion Chart to

determine the resistance equivalent to 0 %, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%
of full range and full range of the TT on test.

2. Set resistance decade box to the resistance equivalent to 0 % and

adjust “zero adjust screw” until output of the standard mA DC meter
indicates 4 mA.

3. Set resistance decade box to the resistance equivalent to full range of

the transmitter and adjust “span adjust screw / potentiometer” until
output of the standard mA DC meter indicates 20 mA.

4. Repeat step 2 and 3 until 4 - 20 mA reading are obtained without

having to re-adjusts the span and zero screw/potentiometer.

5. Set resistance decade box to the resistance equivalent to 50 % of full

range of transmitter and check that the output on standard mA DC
meter is 12 mA.

6. Repeat step 1 - 5 as necessary and record the corresponding output

signal and/or scale reading at 0, 25, 50, 75, 100 % of the instrument
range rising and falling

2. Temperature Element / Thermowell assembly Verification.

All temperature transmitters tested at Step1 need to be assembled with

relevant thermowell for assembly integrity verification as per Company Hook
Up Standard (Refer to Procedure Chapter 9.3)
5G. CONTROL VALVE WITH POSITIONER AND SOLENOID

Calibration set up : TEST GAUGE

SOV

100 --- OPEN POSITION

LIMIT SWITCH

50 --- CLOSED POSITION

LIMIT SWITCH

0 ---

Analog multitester on Ω
position

Calibration procedure :

Verify calibration of I/P 4 – 20 mA input to 0.2 to 1 bar output before

starting calibration of valve.

With 0 bar supply pressure check valve is fully closed for FC valve or fully
open for FO valve with the solenoid energized.

1. With the solenoid energized, apply 4 mA signal to the I/P transducer

and check the valve position is fully closed for FC valve or fully open
for FO valve. Check also the position of the travel indicator, travel
indicator should be 0 % for FC or 100 % for FO valve. Adjust the
positioner zero adjustment if necessary.

2. Apply 20 mA signal to the I/P transducer when solenoid valve

energized and check valve position. Valve position is fully open for FC
valve or fully closed for FO valve. Check also the position of the travel
indicator, travel indicator should be 0 % for FO or 100 % for FC valve.
Record the stroke valve, De-energized the SOV and check that the
valve take its fail safe position.

3. Apply 12 mA signal to the I/P transducer and check the opening

position is 50 % for both FC and FO valve.
4. Repeat step 2 - 4 with the solenoid way to actuator closed, and check
the control valve at fail position for all signal.

5. Repeat step 2 - 5 as necessary and record the calibrating signal at

which the control valve has been calibrated for 0, 25, 50, 75, 100 % of
the valve stroke.
