PHILOSOPHY AND EDUCATION

If you ask questions—essential and reasonable questions, you can automatically call or
name as philosopher. A philosopher should be vigilant enough to conquer and unfold
the questions which circling in his mind. Unfortunately, some questions might not be
answered immediately, sometimes it takes time to be answered or opened. Just like
what Brightman said, philosophy may be defined as the attempt to think truly about
human experience as a whole and to make our whole experience intelligence.

Philosophers have a lot of questions in mind that can make him intelligent and unique:
he investigates the possible root to the problem, and he starts to create variety of
solutions to it. However, philosophy can be a weapon to battle other’s opinion, and it is
very evident when people try to put some conflicts to the premise of conversation. That
is why, commotion and confusion starts there.

There are three main branches of Philosophy that may help people to understand the
essence of life and its relevance to ones wholeness and personality.
1. Metaphysics is the study of questions concerning the nature of reality or
existence. A person try to reach the absolute reality through asking some things
about “the beyond” and the writer of this thinks that we can be beyond from
ourselves and other people if we try to unlock the so called the beyond.
2. Epistemology is the study of nature of knowledge and how these are attained
and evaluated. People can delimit the human’s capacity to think through
metacognition.
3. Axiology is the study of the question of value. It primarily deals with the issues of
value in the following areas:
a. Ethics is the study of moral principles, attempts to establish rational
grounds for good conduct. The norms and standards learnt by a certain
person might be a foundation to him to follow the good principles and
codes.
b. Aesthetics is the study of the nature and value of works of art and the
aesthetic experience. Beauty is one of the major aspects of philosophy,
and it is purely subjective depending on a person’s perspective.

Valuing children in Japan is the primary role of its citizen to discipline, prosper, and
encourage them to love their own country. These probable good actions can be divided
into two kinds:
1. Teleological Ethical Theory. This what makes an action right or wrong are the
consequences of the action. If you do good things or deeds, it will bear a good
result or outcome.
2. Deontological Ethical Theory. These are the actions motivated by the right
reasons will be right, whether its consequences are desirable or not, and vice-
versa. If someone does a certain action that might help the person to be saved
from any harm or humiliation, but that person violates morality-the agreed moral
codes: it can proliferate to a good or desired result.
Therefore, values are the moral conduct and actions of humans to do good or bad
things depending on his perspective on what is moral or immoral.

Idealism are ideas that pertain to reality, the only worth knowing. This anchor the
perspectives of a person to think and explore more. The best example of a
philosopher who follows this ideology is Plato. He believes that learning can grow
and foster through recalibrating the sides and contents of curriculum. Here are the
following things that Plato recommends to uplift the quality of education:
a. The country must be the source of command on how to make the educational
system better.
b. The curriculum shall guide students to learn to become critical thinkers.
c. He believes that those people who are not capable to think critically and
metaphorically shall go into military, business and industry.
d. Those who are good in communicating with other people , a language
commander, shall pursue his education and commit to become a philosopher.
e. Education is for all sexes.

If the state will be applying this vista to educational system, the teachers must be
excellent and intelligent enough to command his class effectively and efficiently,
because they are the ones who can prosper and monitor learning in all forms of
intelligence.
The writer summarizes that philosophy and education are inseparable to each other.
Meaning, one cannot stand alone, if it does—it will not be sensible to discover and
explore.
