compatible VAIO models*2 to remotely access and playback certain content*3
on your PS3™ from anywhere in the world.*4
Once the remote play connection has been established between the VAIO
and the PS3™ (via an internet or WiFi connection), the PS3™ XrossMediaBar
(XMB™) menu screen will appear on the VAIO and give the VAIO playback
control of content stored on your PS3™. From here you can stream your
photos, music or videos stored on your PS3™ in real time to your VAIO.
For Australian customers who have purchased the PlayTV™ Digital TV Tuner
accessory for their PS3™, this Remote Play software allows you to either
watch the TV recordings you have made on your PS3™ or watch
live Australian TV on the display of your VAIO from anywhere in

❚❚VAIO Isolated and backlit keyboard
All VAIO models feature keyboards that have isolated keypads which
means each key is separated from the other surrounding keys. This provides
comfortable and accurate typing even for those with long fingernails.
Selected VAIO models also feature a backlight under the keyboard which
illuminates the individual keys. The ambient light sensor measures the level
of light in the surrounding environment and activates the backlit keyboard
if the light level is low. This ensures you can see the keyboard and continue
to work in low light situations without wasting battery power.
Backlit keyboards are featured on VAIO S Series, VAIO Z Series and selected
VAIO F Series models (F137).
❚❚VAIO Advanced Hard Disc Drive Protection
Mobile notebook computers are regularly moved and carried from place to
place. This can sometimes result in accidental drops or bumps which may
cause damage and data corruption to the inbuilt Hard Disc Drive (HDD).
A HDD is a sensitive storage device which can be damaged from sudden
with the fast spinning magnetic discs that hold the data.
The Advanced HDD Protection system gives improved response time (10ms),
compared to the traditional HDD protection system (20-80ms). This is fast
enough to move the read/write head to a “safe” position thus avoiding the
heads inadvertently scratching the spinning magnetic discs and corrupting
your precious data in any scenario. The Advanced HDD protection gives you
peace of mind that your data is safe even if you are on the go.
