B. TITLES OF FAMOUS WORKS

Three of his famous works are the Eclogues, the Georgics and the Epic of Aeneid.

Epic Of Aeneid’s Short Summary

After the fall of troy, Aeneas leads surviving trojans as they set sail on a quest to
reach for a new land. Goddess Juno hated trojans because it is fated that they will one
day destroy her favorite city of carthage and wants to stop them from reaching latium,
she goes to God of the wind Aeolus to disrupt them, however Neptune notices the
storm and calms it and the trojans lands on north african city called Carthage.

Dido welcomes the trojans and at the feast that night, Venus mother Aeneus
sends down cupid as Ascanius to ensure her hospitality towards her son. Aeneus tells
Dido the story of the fall of troy and his wanderings, described how greeks deceived
them with the Trojan Horse, death of King Priam and of his wife Creusa while fleeing
the devastated city of Troy. further tells misadventure around the mediterranian sea
including encounters wth harpies, cyclops and his father’s death Anchises.

Although Dido falls deeply in love with Aeneas and them entering into a
relationship, Mercury was sent to remind Aeneas of his duty which prompt him to
leave carthage devastating Dido resulting to her suicide. he continues to Cumae near
naples where sibyl an oracle guides him to the underworld, there he encounters
Anchises' ghost and learns of the glorious city and empire his descendants will found.

They continued to Latium where they meet Latinus king of the Latin people who
learns from a prophecy that her daughter Lavinia will mary a foreigner as opposed to
Turnus local king of Rutuli who wants to marry her daughter. Latins and Trojans were
at the verge of making peace when Juno sends down Allecto a fury to cause conflict
which turns wife of Latinus Queen Amata against Aeneas also fills Turnus with rage.
Venus and Juno argued their side to Jupiter who decrees that the war outcome should
be left to fate alone. Pallas gets killed by turnus taking his belt as a trophy. Aeneas
learning about this, avenges his friends death by killing Turnus automatically winning
the war.
C. CHARACTER OF THE PROTAGONIST

Aeneas is one of the great epic heroes. As a Greek hero, he endured challenges
throughout his journey to fulfill his destiny. He embodies courageousness and tenacity.
Born and fated to lead the only surviving men of the Trojan war to a land that will
become Rome. He is a leader and was pious, although he struggled within himself of
choosing duty over love, he was set to obey the will of Gods. Aeneas fate was
predestined, the many hardships he overcame made him a great Roman hero. He
saw the importance of his destiny. Rather than letting tragic events hinder his purpose,
he became an undefeatable warrior.
D. THEME’S OF THE STORY
1. Fate
Aeneas’s fate is to find a new city in Italy. But some of the characters try to
change the course of Aeneas’s fate. It is when the goddess Juno is set against him
from the very beginning and repeatedly uses her divine powers to cause trouble to
Aeneas. However, she only manages to lengthen and twist Aeneas’s path to his fate,
not block it. Turnus is Juno's primary agent for interfering with Aeneas's fate in Italy,
imposing a costly war on him just when it looks like he will fulfill his fate in Italy by the
peaceful means of marriage.

2. Piety
From the first lines of the poem, Virgil describes Aeneas as being remarkable for
his piety, and "pious" is the most-used adjective to describe Aeneas throughout the
poem. Aeneas always places these obligations above his own feelings or desires.
When the winds blast his ships and he wish he had died defending Troy, he
nonetheless pursues his fate. When Juno torments him, he is sad but not defiant.
When Dido's love tempts him to stay in Carthage, he deserts her because he feels he
must.

E. MORAL AND LESSON IN THE WORK

1. To be a hero is not just about the fame you will take forever with your name, but a
statement of your deeds that will give others motivation to succeed and follow.

2. To meet our Goal in life we need to sacrifice the most precious things we desire
along the road of success.

3. There are countless of obstacles in life and the its much easier to give up the
moment those hardships fell on us, but thats the reason why we make mistakes for us
to learn, then we get up because it does'nt matter how much we fell on our knees to
having these mistakes but how we persevere on trying to get the job done.
