What is one specific thing you can do to be a better steward of your learning?

One specific thing I can do to be a better steward of my learning is to share it to

other people through teaching, which is an example of Good Stewardship.
Sharing our learning’s would still be the best ways to not lose it rather cultivate more

wisdom. A responsible steward of our learning means to see everything we’ve been given as a

gift. In the Bible (Matthew 25: 14-20), we’re encouraged to return to God what we’ve been given

with increase. This scripture (and many other passages) teach us how to use education and our

unique gifts to promote the kingdom of God, peace, and justice, and the dignity of life.

Responsible stewardship of our learning is what the Lord requires in every one of us. When

Jesus Christ was lost during in his early days his parents found Him in the Temple teaching and

sharing His divine knowledge to elders. During the Sermon on the Mount he was sharing the

Gospel through parables not only through words but also through action on how they can be

good stewards of their wisdom; He was a great teacher and ultimate example on how we can be a

good steward of our learning.

Everything we do, in every moment of life, involves learning; every movement we make,

every emotion we feel, every thought we think, every word we speak, and every belief we

believe. Even babies learn to become children, children learn to become teens, and teens learn to

become adults. From social-emotional development, vocational success, profession or business

development…and on and on… every aspect of human life involves learning stewardship, far

more any other human activity; it shapes each and all of our lives. That’s why we need to be a

responsible steward of learning, because in all aspects of our lives has a principle to be learned

and to be acquired that requires sharing to grow and flourished. Peter Senge a renowned systems

scientist once said “Sharing knowledge is not about giving people something, or getting

something from them. That is only valid for information sharing. Sharing knowledge occurs
when people are genuinely interested in helping one another develop new capacities for action; it

is about creating learning processes”.

In the Church, stewardship is not limited to a temporal trust or responsibility. President

Spencer W. Kimball taught: “We are stewards over our bodies, minds, families, and properties…

A faithful steward is one who exercises righteous dominion, cares for his own, and looks to the

poor and needy.” That’s why I believe that we need to be great stewards of our learning as

continually reminded by prophets and apostles of the church. As a young boy reaching the age of

twelve and preparing for young men will have the duty to pass the sacrament and share my

testimony, I can often heard members of our ward saying this during the testimony meeting

“Don’t Keep It, Share It” They were saying in order for someone to gain a personal divinity or

testimony of the Lord and His church they must need to share it. Also the same during my full

time mission in the Southern Philippines if I didn’t share my testimony and the things I’ve

learned in my Seminary and Institute Class, I may not able to inspired souls to repent and accept

the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Really being a good steward of learning is needed for me, my family,

my profession and business, and to my church calling. Indeed this feeling of accountability to be

a great steward of our learning which was encompassed by the second great commandment to

love others and has been described by some as “obedience to the unenforceable.” And as a

member of the Church we try to do what is right because we love and want to please our Father

in Heaven, not because someone is forcing us to obey. And I believe it must be the ultimate

reason on why we must be good stewards of learning. My hope and prayer that I will always

remember this things, that I may be able to share all the knowledge, wisdoms, and blessings that

I’ve learned through this divine program of the Lord.
