Cub Cheers: Congratulations to the students in Mr. Frank’s Class they

did our Friday Announcements last week and were fabulous!
Congratulations to the following students for receiving Cox Cub of
the Week: Abby Burton, Dylan Ellison, Laila Kuwahara-Flood,
Brooke Snyder, Miranda Bobbitt, Alexander Garcia, Brayden Moore,
Kyleah Merrill, Corinne Grantz, Colt Thomason, KC Brogan,
Reese Baillargeon, Chloe Christensen, Ben Gibson, Diesel Jones,
Elenarose Schneider, Anabelle Blea, Brandon Perea-Randolph,
Brandon Reitz, and Ciana Logan.

Did you know? Thank you to the PTA, they funded reading textbooks
for our third grade students! We were able to shift extra Henderson
“Grant” money to purchase fifth grade reading textbooks, and we were
also able to shift our state money from last year’s 3 Star rating to
purchase reading textbooks for first and second grade! That just leaves fourth grade to fund. We are sending out a November
fundraiser catalogue next week to fund fourth grade and kindergarten grade levels next.

MONSTER MARCH, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31ST, at 2:30 PM ON OUR FIELD: Each year our students dress up in
their Halloween Costumes and we march around the field to show off our creativity! Kindergarteners may wear their
costumes to school. Students in 1-5 grades need to bring their costumes to change into before the parade, they may not come
to school in their costumes. Parents are encouraged to come to the Monster March and can line up around the perimeter of the
field. The march begins once all the classes are in their designated lines at 2:30 pm. It’s a fun tradition at DMC and of course,
wearing a costume is ALWAYS optional NOT mandatory.
Costume rules…NO weapon props (or handcuffs) can be brought with costumes. Hair color and face paint are fine and can
be put on/in prior to school. Masks are okay but older students please be respectful our younger students can be very
frightened by some of the scarier masks and we don’t want any tears during the Monster March.

Introducing our 2019-2020 SOT members:

Rebecca Anderson
Parent Teacher Conferences are Coming: Each year, CCSD holds parent-teacher conferences for elementary school. Your
child should have brought home a letter with information and dates/times to pick your conference from. Parent Teacher
conference week is November 12-15th with the 12th being the evening conference availability and the 15th being a day of
non-student attendance. Our teachers make every possible effort to schedule siblings back-to-back and the times are on a
first come basis. Grades K-5 are required to meet with every student’s parent each year. First grade teachers held their
conferences in September and will only be meeting with parents of new students or if requested.

PTA News:
 Mrs. Melanie Riggs is our Staff Appreciation Chair for PTA and she needs volunteers to bring a crockpot of
soup for the Staff Soup Luncheon on Friday, November 15th from 11:00am-1:00pm. Please email Melanie
Riggs if you can bring a crockpot of soup at melanieshipley@gmail.com. She would also love
parents to help set up, clean up, and bring in deserts/salads/etc.
 Our outdoor classroom in the garden is almost complete! The PTA just purchased benches
and table desks for the students and a white board for instruction has been installed!

Check out our NEW Play Toys for our

Kinders: Our PTA funded new play toys for the
Kindergarten Playground! The kids love all new
equipment!
First Quarter Accelerated Reading Word Count Winners (2nd posting): Each quarter we track how many words students
