WORK EXPERIENCE
Marketing and Communications Specialist, Michigan Tech Alumni Engagement/Annual Giving
2013–present
Essential duties are development and management of communications initiatives for both
departments, including web sites, mass email campaigns, and direct mail. Additional duties
include serving as departmental liaison with Information Technology and University
Marketing and Communications. I assist departments campus-wide with development,
design, and implementation of alumni communications initiatives.
Notable Accomplishments:
• Researched and implemented the use of a task-tracking system
• Implemented metrics tracking for outward-facing communications
Department Coordinator/Administrative Aide 7, Michigan Tech Visual and Performing Arts,
2009–2012
Served as the Department Coordinator and sole support staff for the entire department.
Assisted the department chair with confidential and sensitive matters. Served as the primary
point of contact for communications to and from the department chair. Anticipated the

operational needs of the department, the department chair, and incoming and existing
faculty, and worked to execute short- and long-term goals of the department. Analyzed
information and independently resolved administrative problems; resolved, escalated, or
routed incoming requests appropriately. Prepared official internal and external
correspondence and publications in collaboration with the chair and on behalf of the chair.
Managed all department hiring procedures, including faculty searches, drafted faculty
contracts, and maintained personnel records for each employee. Supervised temporary
employees and student workers. Coordinated all travel arrangements for the department
chair, processed travel vouchers and external reimbursements for all faculty and student
travel. Authorized and created check requests, interaccount bills, purchase orders, and
reconciled and reallocated purchasing card expenses. Prepared contracts for external
contractors for approval by University counsel and the purchasing department. Assisted with
creation and management of department budget. Managed department website.
Notable Accomplishments:
• Implemented anticipatory budgeting policy for future needs and equipment
• Implemented purchasing card reconciliation procedures for all faculty and staff
• Established technological solutions for usage/inventory of materials and spaces
• Revised accounting procedures to comply with University guidelines
