3. RIBBON CONTROL - Settings
The various controls available for the “Settings” Tab is as shown below.

16 Set the Range for the Power Axis in the Main Display
17 Set the Range for the Power Axis in the Secondary Display
Note:
Setting a higher value for the Resolution will require more time for each scan. The
resolution settings must be increased as the bandwidth of the frequency scan is
increased.
The AGC Gain determines the noise floor of each Frequency Scan. However, the
maximum input power before the RF Spectrumlyzer saturates will also be lowered as
the AGC Gain is increased. Please use a lower AGC gain if the input power is high.

6. TRACE MEMORY SETUP
This function allows the user to save the existing spectrum in the Main Display to memory. A
separate trace will appear in the Main Display showing the saved Trace. This is very useful for
comparing traces during development and troubleshooting.
Another separate trace will also appear in the Secondary Display showing the Delta difference
between the existing Trace and the Trace that has been saved to the memory. Please follow the
following steps to setup the Trace Memory during the Frequency Scan.
1. Click the Icon 3 under the “Trace to Memory” container in the “Main” Ribbon Tab
to save and display the memory trace.
2. Click the Icon 4 under the “Trace to Memory” container in the “Main” Ribbon Tab
to clear the memory trace.

7. TRACE MAX HOLD SETUP
This function allows the user to capture the maximum Power Level after each successive
frequency scan. A separate trace will appear in the Main Display showing the maximum
Power registered. This is a very useful function for capturing signals that is pulsing and also
for troubleshooting EMI problems.
1. Click the Icon 5 under the “Max Trace” container in the “Main” Ribbon Tab to
display the max hold trace.
2. Click the Icon 6 under the “Max Trace” container in the “Main” Ribbon Tab to
clear the max hold trace.

8. LIMIT LINE SETUP
This function allows the user to set a Limit Line in the Main Display to detect the frequencies where
the spectrum has exceeded the limit during the frequency scan.
1. Set the Power Level for the Limit Line under item 11 of the “Main” Ribbon Tab.
2. Click the Icon 7 under the “Limit Line” container in the “Main” Ribbon Tab to
display the limit line.
3. Click the Icon 8 under the “Limit Line” container in the “Main” Ribbon Tab to
