PLAN Teaching SEPTEMBER 3, 2019
Dates and (TUESDAY) Quarter SECOND
Time

Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives,
necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises and remedial activities
may be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using Formative
I. OBJECTIVES Assessment strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content and competencies and enable
children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the
curriculum guides.
The Learner demonstrates understanding of…
A. Content Standards
unifying themes in the study of life.

The Learner is able to…

B. Performance Standards
value life by taking good care of all beings, humans, plants, and animals.

The Learner…
C. Learning Competencies/
Objectives (Write the LC describe how unifying themes (e.g., structure and function, evolution, and
code for each) ecosystems) in the study of life show the connections among living things and
how they interact with each other and with their environment.

II. CONTENT INTRODUCTION TO LIFE SCIENCE

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing Previous lesson
or presenting the new lesson. Review on the previous lesson.
Check the assignment.

B. Establishing a purpose for

the lesson. Even though an amazing variety of living things exist on Earth, they are all alike
in several ways. Does a dog have anything in common with a tree? Or do you
have something in common with other living things?

C. Presenting examples/ Let the students play a game called ”4 PICS 1 WORD” that introduces students
instances of the new to words related to the Seven Themes in Life Science.
lesson.
D. Discussing new concepts Introduce examples to build up to the following information about the Seven
and practicing new skills Unifying Themes in Life Science.

F. Developing mastery (Leads
to formative Assessment 3)
Activity: (Report)

Students will be given materials on which they will use in making illustrations of
the unifying theme described by the following pieces of evidence:

a. Plants capture the energy of sunlight in the process of photosynthesis.

b. Living organisms have their own degree of organization, structure, and
function, which are different from non-living things.
c. Life forms are slowly changing and have been apparently changing
since Earth’s formation.
d. Millions of species of living organisms have been identified and ranked
according to hierarchy
e. Humans and other living organisms have properties based on their
organizational level.
f. Give an example of how structure is related to function.

G. Finding practical
applications of concepts Before you destroy or kill organisms such as plants, trees, and small animals and

and how they interact with each other and with their environment.

I. Evaluating learning.
J. Additional activities for
application or remediation. Form small groups. Within your group, discuss why you value life and why living
things have to be cared for. Cite specific examples based on your actual
experiences. Use a slogan and discuss it in front with your classmates.

V. REMARKS
VI. REFLECTION

A. No. of learners who earned

80% in the evaluation.

B. No. of learners who require

additional activities for
remediation.
C. Did the remedial lessons
work? No. of learners who
have caught up the lesson.
D. No. of learners who continue
to require remediation.

E. Which of my teaching
strategies worked well? Why
did these work?

F. What difficulties did I

encounter which my principal
or supervisor can help me
solve?
G. What innovation or localized
materials did I use/discover
which I wish to share with
other?
