Abstract

Academic Interschool Activities are activities that take place outside regular class

teaching and yet are related to student learning. Academic Interschool Activities take

care of the students’ different developmental needs such as their sense of moral values

and attitudes, skills and creativity. Through their participation in Academic Interschool

Activities, students can learn to communicate, to cooperate with other people and in

addition to enrich their life experience. They will gain first-hand experience of

programme planning and leadership, thus enabling them to discover and develop their

potential.

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of participation in academic

interschool activities by the Junior High and Senior High students, the amount and type

of activities they wanted to participate in extracurricular activities. The research design

for this study was quantitative in nature. Students were specifically identified for the

purpose of this study. As part of this quantitative study, data was collected to examine

the participation rates of Junior High and Senior High students. A variety of sources was

used to gather all the data necessary for the purpose of this study. Data from the survey

questionnaire was used to determine the profile of the students and the activities they

wanted to participate.
