1.

Satu eksperimen dijalankan untuk menentukan kepekatan larutan sukrosa yang isotonic kepada sap sel
jalur kentang.
An experiment was carried out to determine the concentration of sucrose solution which is isotonic to
the cell sap of potato strip.

Langkah-langkah berikut telah dijalankan.


The following steps were carried out.

Langkah 1 : Satu penebuk gabus digunakan untuk mendapatkan empat jalur kentang berbentuk
silinder dan setiap jalur dipotong 5 mm panjang.
Step 1: a cork borer is used to obtain four cylindrical potato strips and each strip was cut to 5
mm long.

Langkah 2 : Jalur kentang dilap kering dengan kertas tisu dan ditimbang secara individu.
Step 2: The potato strips were wiped dry with tissue paper and weighed individually.

Langkah 3 : Setiap jalur direndam dalam piring petri yang mengandungi kepekatan larutan sukrosa
yang berlainan.
Step 3: Each strips was immersed in a petri dish containing different concentration of sucrose
solution.

Langkah 4 : Selepas 30 minit, jalur-jalur kentang dikeluarkan dan dilap sekali lagi.
Step4: After 30 minutes, the potato strip were removed and wiped dry again.

Langkah 5 : Jisim akhir setiap jalur kentang ditimbang dan direkodkan.


Step 5: the final mass of each potato strip was weighed and then recorded.

Diagram 1 shows the initial mass of each potato strip.

The potato strip from the 0.6M sucrose solution was removed and dried with tissue paper. Then, it was
immersed in distilled water for 30 minutes. Based on the results of this experiment, predict what will
happen to the potato strip. Explain your prediction.

(i) Dalam eksperimen yang lain, didapati bahawa jalur batang sawi yang direndamkan dalam larutan natrium
klorida 0.8% tidak mengalami sebarang perubahan jisim.
In another experiment, it was found that a mustard stem strip that was immersed in 0.8% sodium chloride
solution did not undergo any changes in mass.

Different fruit juices contain different concentrations of vitamin C.

DCPIP (diklorofenolindofenol) 0.1% digunakan untuk menguji kehadiran vitamin C dalam jus buah-
buahan. Rancangkan satu eksperimen untuk menentukan kandungan vitamin C dalam buah nenas,
jambu batu dan mango.
0.1% DCPIP (dichlorophenolindophenol) is used to testfor the presence of vitamin C in fruit juices.
Design a laboratory experiment to determine the vitamin C content in pineapple, guava and mango.
