deduction of 1% will be made from the final mark for each 1% beyond the 10 % margin. So, for a 500

• identify and understand the key concepts and theories related to your chosen article
and demonstrate a grasp of the author(s) main arguments relating to them.
• discuss the significance of the article to the relevant academic literature. What is the
relationship between the article with other articles written on the same topic? What
contribution does the article make to the field of research? In doing this you should
include at least three other scholarly texts in the literature, (see
https://emedia.rmit.edu.au/isearch/scholarly-information).
• present these by using an effective academic writing style including consistent
referencing and citation using the Harvard citation style (see:

Some tips for this assessment
• When reviewing academic literature, it is critical to focus on what the authors are
arguing rather than simply the subject that they are talking about. By addressing this
argument, you will be able to situate the piece in the wider literature of contrary
opinions, so as to better understand and articulate the piece’s relevance to that
literature.
• Try to think critically about the piece’s argument rather than just summarising it.
Whether you agree or disagree with the argument of the piece, you should try to
analyse the opinions of the literature with some independence, offering evidence to
support your point of view where necessary.
• Avoid quotations that do not clearly illustrate a specific critical issue. In general, use
direct quotations only if you have a good reason. Most of your paper should be in
your own words to demonstrate your understanding of the ideas of the author.
• Make consistent use of thorough referencing and clear bibliographic detail.
