I would like to thank everyone for all the support for the 2014
ERSA Australia Manager Symposium. It was a great success due to the members

and sponsors. We had 50 people total attendance this year,
ERSA UK Manager up 13 from last year. We will set the 2015 venue in the next
Jamie Pethick 4 weeks and will put up a dedicated website for the Sympo-
ERSA UK Tester sium . As it looks now, it will be the end on March in south-

next weeks and after discussing this with the managers we

ups and will extend the presentations and workshops one

 New Certified Stringers, Master Racquet Technicians and
Pro Tour Stringers.
ERSA now offers certification for different levels of stringers, from beginners to
the top professional stringers in the world. The first level is ERSA Stringer is for
new stringers to show they have completed a stringing course and learned to
string correctly. Certified Stringer is for stringing services, such as coaches club
stringers, shop string¬ers, after passing a day of practical and written tests.
Master Racquet Technician is for shop stringers and owners who can
tune racquets, string at a high level and have a broad knowledge of products for
their customers. Pro Tour Stringer certification is for MRTs
who are stringing at ATP and WTA tournaments. There are 3 levels for this
certification, Level 1, Level 2 and Master Pro Tour Stringer. The highest level,
Master PTS is only given to stringers who have proven themselves at profes-
sional tournaments for over 10 years.
NEW – Anyone with a Master Racquet Technician certification can take the
Level 1 Pro Tour Stringer certification without tournament experience. This will
only be a practical test. After five years, the applicant can apply to take
the Level 2 certification. A resume will be required with tournament
experience. Master Pro Tour Stringer can be appliedfor after 10
years and must be recommended from another Master PTS.

Ashaway Racket Strings has introduced a new string for top-level racquetball players looking for
superior power and tension stability from Zyex® filaments. New PowerKill® 17, a lighter 1.25 mm
version of its PowerKill Pro cousin, provides superior feel and ball control. Both feature a multifila-
ment nylon core for optimum shear strength and durability, and a proprietary Power Filament Tech-

"Power Filament Technology represents a significant advance in string technology for racquetball
that will allow chronic string breakers and all-court power players to push their game to the limit,"

Zyex is a trade name for a high temperature, engineering grade polymer known as polyetherether-
ketone, or PEEK. PEEK materials like Zyex have several physical properties that recommend
them for racquet strings, Crandall explained. Among other qualities, PEEK monofilaments and
fibers are very tough and durable, and have excellent abrasion resistance. In tests measuring
"thread on thread" abrasion -- one of the key factors in string fatigue -- PEEK multifilaments lasted
more than five times as long as "bullet proof" aramid fibers.

"Another benefit of the PFT jacket in PowerKill Pro is

in generating power," Crandall continued. "Zyex fila-
ments are known for their excellent dynamic stiffness,
their tremendous ability to stretch and snap back
when hitting the ball. Woven over a multifilament ny-
lon core, this improves the power of every shot while
decreasing string bed stiffness and impact shock, a
property we call 'soft power'."

PTR relocates headquarters
Hilton Head Island, SC — Professional Tennis
Registry (PTR) announced today that it has
outgrown its current location and is moving its
International Headquarters on Friday, April 25.
“With PTR’s continued growth, we needed
more space to operate efficiently and effec-
tively, said Dan Santorum, PTR CEO. “This
move will allow us to decide our best long
term option for PTR International Headquar-
ters.”
PTR’s physical address will no longer be 116
Shipyard Drive. PTR new address is 4 Office

Teachers Conference
returns to US Open
The United States Tennis Association (USTA)
today announced that registration is now open
for the 2014 Tennis Teachers Conference
at the Grand Hyatt New York, in conjunction
with the US Open. The four-day conference,
beginning on August, 22, brings together the
leading tennis teaching professionals and
coaches in the industry to share best prac-
tices, and will include a series of interactive
on-court sessions and presentations. Attend-

The event aims to provide the best learning
experience for tennis teachers and coaches
by offering educational resources, facilitating
innovative teaching techniques, and creating
networking opportunities among the mem-
bers of the various associations. This year’s
keynote speakers include Patrick McEnroe,
USTA Player Development General Manager;
Paul Annacone, Australian Open doubles
champion and former coach of Roger Feder-
er and Pete Sampras; Judy Murray, mother
of Andy Murray and British Fed Cup Captain;
and Admiral James Stavridis, U.S. Naval
Institute (Ret.) Dean of the Fletcher School of
Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
In addition, attendees will receive access to
the US Open and are invited to a special hos-
pitality area at the US Open’s Opening Day,
August 25.
In 2014, the USPTA World Conference, which
has traditionally been held two weeks follow-
ing the conclusion of the US Open, will not be
held. Instead, the USPTA will join the USTA
in hosting the Tennis Teachers Conference.
With this greater attendance and shared
resources, the conference hopes to enhance
and strengthen the education and develop-
ment of more teaching professionals across
the country.

ITF’s Tennis iCoach OffersTop
Content for $30 a Year
Tennis iCoach, launched late last year, is the
official coaching platform from the International
Tennis Federation. The site, tennisicoach.
com, is a coach education resource offering
both practical information and tennis-specific
sport science content on technique, tactics,
biomechanics, psychology, sports medi-cine
and coaching methodology, says the ITF.“We
see the iCoach as a good way of solving two
important issues,” says Dave Miley, the ITF’s
executive director of development. “Increasing
tennis participa-tion by improving the informa-
tion to coaches who are working at the national
level worldwide with recreational players, and
providing a distance-learning tool for those
working at high levels, especially on the inter-
national junior and professional tours.” Access
to all the content is $30 a year, Miley adds.
Currently, the library has more than 1,500
educa-tional articles, videos and confer-ences,
including exclusive access to videos of ITF
Worldwide and Regional Coaches Confer-
ences where members can learn about cut-
ting edge developments in the game from
the world’s top coaches and coach education
experts.There are many reasons to become a

Bernard Tomic has signed a long-term contract

Prince Global Sports to
Relocate to Atlanta
Prince Global Sports is relocating its corporate
headquarters to Atlanta, from its longtime loca-
tion in Bordentown, N.J. At press time, Prince
announced it was finalizing a lease agreement
to move into commercial property in the Buck-
head area north of downtown Atlanta.CEO Mike
Ballardie said Prince has been an iconic brand
in the tennis industry more than 40 years and
feels Atlanta is a natural location for Prince Ten-
nis’ head-quarters. “As we continue our growth
as a global company, we see Atlanta and its
vast resources as a perfect fit for our manage-
ment, sales and marketing teams,” he said. “At-
lanta has a thriving tennis community with more
men, women and children playing tennis than

Norway’s Sorvald Named PTR Pro
of the Year
Oivind Sorvald of Lieskogen, Norway, was
named PTR Professional of the Year at the
PTR International Tennis Symposium, held in
February in Hilton Head Island, S.C. A PTR
member since 1980, Sorvald has been a PTR
Tester since 1992. Currently, he is the Direc-tor
of High Performance and Coach Education for
the Norwegian Tennis Association (NTF), where
he has conducted coach educa-tion courses for
more than 20 years.Dr. Jim Loehr and Jim Ver-
dieck were inducted into the PTR Hall of Fame,
joining Dennis Van der Meer. Loehr, a world-re-
nowned performance psychologist, has been a
PTR member since 1976 and is the co-founder
of the Human Performance Institute.
OCBC Bank signs on for Singapore
OCBC Bank is going to be the Official Card
Partner for the next five years for the BNP Pari-
bas WTA Championships Singapore, presented
by SC Global, it was announced on Wednes-
day.
Desmond Tan, the Head of Group Lifestyle
Financing for OCBC Bank, said: "As a leading

be associated with the WTA Championships
and be its official card partner.
The WTA Championships will feature 11 match
sessions across seven days of competition with
four day sessions and seven evening ses-
sions.
The Top 8 players in the world will compete
in a two-group, round robin competition (Ses-
sions 1-8) with the top players in each group
advancing to the semi-final round (Session 9
and 10) and a championship match staged on
Sunday, October 26 (Session 11).

Czech Republic to host Germany in
Fed Cup by BNP Paribas final
Czech Republic will host Germany in the Fed Cup
Final on 8-9 November.
In the semifinals, the Czech Republic overcame
Italy 4-0 in Ostrava, while Germany defeated Aus-
tralia 3-1 in Brisbane.
Canada, France, Poland and Russia all won their
World Group play-off ties and will join Australia,
Czech Republic, Germany and Italy in the 2015
World Group.
The draw for the 2015 Fed Cup will be held at Ro-
land Garros, Paris on Wednesday 4 June at 12:00
local time (10:00 GMT).
Fed Cup by BNP Paribas is the World Cup of Ten-
nis.
It is the largest annual international team competi-
tion in women's sport, with 95 nations taking part
in 2014.
The event celebrated its 50th birthday in 2013 in
the ITF's centenary year.

Centre Court Debenture
Issue, 2016-2020
The prospectus for the Centre Court Deben-
ture issue 2016-2020 was published on 25
April.
Up to 2,500 Debentures are being offered at a
price of £50,000 (inc VAT) per Debenture.
Applications close on 6 June 2014 and the is-
sue is expected to raise around £100m, which
will be invested in the improvements to the
Grounds and facilities under the Wimbledon
Master Plan.

Three-Week Gap
Next year, the dates of The Championships
will move back by one week and will be held
from 29 June-12 July, 2015, to create a three-
week gap between the French Open and
Wimbledon.
Work has continued with the ATP, WTA and
LTA on a re-structured calendar and the Club
is delighted to welcome Stuttgart and Notting-
ham to the pre-Wimbledon grass court circuit,
as well as the elevation in status of the events
at Queen's, Halle and Edgbaston.

Sharapova extends business
portfolio with Supergoop!
IMG Tennis has announced a new global part-
nership deal for its client Maria Sharapova with
Supergoop!, a skincare line solely dedicated to a
healthy approach to broad spectrum sun protec-
tion.
In addition to signing on as Supergoop's brand
ambassador, Sharapova will become a co-owner
of the company with Founder and CEO Holly
Thaggard.
A former World No 1 and only one of six women
in the Open Era to have won all four Grand Slam
titles, Sharapova has been ranked by Forbes
magazine as the highest paid female athlete in
the world for a record nine years.
Supergoop! joins Sharapova's family of partners
which include Nike, Porsche, Evian, TAG Heuer,
Samsung, Head and Cole Haan.
In the last twelve months, IMG Tennis has signed
a number of partners for its clients including
global deals with Peugeot and Seiko (Novak

ERSA Symposium

The 2014 ERSA AGM and Symposium took place again

in Dusseldorf, Germany at the Tryp Airport Hotel and TC Blau-Schwarz Tennisclub from April 11 -
14. Fifty participants took part this year along with our managers from most of the countries and
representatives from several sponsors. We had an 80 square meter meeting room in the hotel,
restaurant plus room outside for coffee breaks to meet and exchange ideas with members from 20
different countries.
ERSA has expanded into all racquet sports with the new Certified Stringer Badminton and Master
of Racquet Sports testing. We had a great line-up of speakers this year. Thanks again to Richard
Parnell for the stringing presentations, Mark Maslowski for racquet tuning and new ERSA Soft-
ware, Lee Dinkinson for his motivating presentation on running your business, Fred Beers on
string testing, Rob Maessen on grip moulding and a special thanks to Mark Goodman and Nick
Down for their badminton and squash presentations and all their help setting up the workshop and
testing guidelines for CS Baminton and Master of Racquet Sports.
We offered new racket testing in TC Blau-Schwarz Tennisclub along with all the certification test-
ing and hands on racket tuning. We had a 60 square meter meeting room, shop, office, indoor and
outdoor courts available for Sunday and Monday. All the participants said it was the greatest learn-
ing experience they have had for stringing and looking forward to coming again next year. Hope
more members will take the opportunity to come in 2015!

ERSA Symposium

The Hands On Workshops were a hit again

this year. Offered were 2 days of FREE
Private Lessons from the top stringers in the
world. Normally our Master Pro Stringers
charge up to 80€ per hour. Included for the
first time were badminton and squash string-
ing lessons from 2 Master of Racquet Sports
Testers. Richard Parnell offered a gripping
session (photo right), and Mark Maslowski
a Hands On Tuning Workshop, giving many
great tips on the day before the MRT and
PTS testing.

After a busy 4 days of meetings, workshops, testing and great eating we are starting to organize
the 2015 Symposium in Spain. We already have 40 sign-ups for next year and looking for 60 to 70
participants for 5 days of learning, fun and meeting other top stringers from around the world.
ERSA is proud to include Badminton and Squash in the Certification Program for the first time and
are busy setting up workshops in Germany and the UK for this year.

Richard Parnell, ERSA Spain Manager, just

finished the first two worshops in Sao Paolo,
Brazil with Ricardo Dipold and Andrea Amaral, our
ERSA Latin America managers.
The first two workshops had six stringers each signed
up for a one day workshop and MRT certification testing
the next day.
With a large tennis population, ERSA Latin America is
expecting rapid growth over the next several years.
We now have the tests in Portuguese also, expanding
our communication possibilities with a large part of the
world.

Marco Rossani, the ERSA Italy manager is keeping as

busy as ever. He completed a Beginner and an Ad-
vanced Course in Milano, Italy last month before coming
to the ERSA AGM and Symposium in Germany and will
be stringing in Rome next week with his our assistant
manager, Paolo Facci.
ERSA Italy was for the second consectutive year the
number one country with participation at the ERSA AGM
& Symposium.
