Prerequisite:
Students must have the knowledge of the different conventional design methods of different foundation types
covered in the undergraduate program, good knowledge of constitutive models, good knowledge of FE and/or
FD programs, and soil dynamics course must be covered first.
Course Objectives:
The overall objective of this course is to review the basic design methods of foundations, to introduce with the
advanced methods of design and analysis of different types of foundations. Introduce students with some of
the state-of-the-art geotechnical engineering software.
At the end of the course students:
Should be able to analyze and design shallow and deep foundations using conventional and advanced
methods.
Should be able to analyze and design machine foundations.
