ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Rules and Regulations
Supervises and directs overall operations of the National Meal Program.
Coordinates and implements federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
Coordinate training for the School Nutrition staff.
Assists Chief Financial Officer with program budget.
Recommends staffing of facilities and coordinates all matters related to personal management.
Follows federal and state rules and regulations and local Board Policies pertaining to meal
requirements and record keeping.
Attends classes and conferences for School Nutrition as required.
Performance Standards
Supervises employee evaluation process and evaluates School Nutrition Managers.
Follows instructions given by the Assistant Director of Schools for Administration in the use of
equipment, new methods, or techniques of work, recipes, and any changes in the work schedules
or number of hours to be worked.
Performs and completes all scheduled tasks to the required quality and time standards.
Maintain promotional materials to use in individual schools (i.e. signs).
Works to promote teamwork and efficient production with the School Nutrition department.
Public Relations
Promotes increasing participation through good public relations and marketing skills with students,
faculty, and parents.

Meet the necessary health and physical qualifications.
Complete satisfactory background checks as required by the Tennessee State Department of
Education and state law.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Associate’s Degree in a specific related major* AND 2 years of relevant school nutrition experience, OR
Bachelor’s Degree in any major AND 2 years of relevant school nutrition experience, OR
Bachelor’s Degree in any major AND State-recognized certificate for school nutrition program directors,
OR
Bachelor’s Degree in a specific/related major* (experience preferred, but not required)
Previous leadership and food service experience a plus.
*Specific/related major: Academic major or concentration in food and nutrition, food service management,
dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field.

Calculator, computer, copy machine, facsimile, Microsoft Office, telephone
