SUCCESS STORY FROM THE FOUNDER OF KFC ‘’ Harland

David Sanders’’

Born in Indiana, America on September 9, 1890, Colonel Harland Sanders, the

founder of KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) had an inspirational journey towards his
success. Every day, the Colonel's fried chicken recipe can be enjoyed by more than
one billion worldwide. But who would have thought, behind this success, the
Colonel had a profession as a porter to parking.

As reported by Biografiku.com, while working as a porter, Colonel Harland

Sanders received only no more than sixteen cents. In addition, he also worked as a
parking attendant. In 1906, he later entered the army and was sent to Cuba, until he
retired.

In his retirement, the Colonel lived on pension funds. But that was not enough, until
finally he joined the train fire team. During those times too, he studied law through
a correspondent, and continued to explore his abilities until he obtained a diploma
in law.

Although he often handled cases in several courts in Little Arkansas, he felt his
income was far from standard. To the extent that he thought that the diploma he had
obtained was of no use.

He then left the lawyer's profession and opened a car service stand in 1929 in
Corbin, Kentucky.

Open the restaurant

One day, a salesman said that in this city there were no good restaurants, so anyone
could eat in it comfortably. Harland Sanders agreed to that opinion.

In his mind the desire to build a restaurant flared up. No one knows that the
comment of the hawkers will be a point in the life of Colonel Harland Sanders who
will then change his destiny. The restaurant gave birth to a breakthrough in serving
the fastest food menu.

Colonel Harland Sanders at the time said, really, at first glance he had thought that
the most impressive thing he had ever done in the past was cooking.

"As for me when selling what I cook, my cuisine will definitely not be worse than
the cuisine of the owners of restaurants in this city," he said.
He started from a small room, a warehouse behind his car service stand. He has
turned it into a small restaurant that sells fried chicken and fresh vegetables.

Colonel Harland Sanders restaurant is so famous. To open a restaurant, he did not

find it difficult, namely just by closing the gas station and turning it into a restaurant
that he named "Café Sanders".

In 1930, his business grew. His restaurant is now filled with one hundred and forty-
two people. Given his continued love for development and education in any case,
he finally attended a training program on restaurant and hotel management for eight
weeks at Cornell University.

Like Fried Chicken

Colonel Harland Sanders is a fan of fried chicken, except that he does not use the
classic method, which is by using oil that cannot produce the taste he wants. In
1939, he found a surefire way to fry chicken.

One of the things that helped this new discovery was the discovery of a pressure
cooker or pressure cooker that could produce delicious and fresh chicken in ten
seconds by steaming over steam.

Recipe for 'Eleven KFC secret spices'

The method is very good cause without removing taste and smell and not using oil.
Every year, Colonel Harland Sanders always conducts experiments for his fried
chicken until finally he finds a special recipe for fried chicken consisting of spices
and spices known as 'Eleven KFC secret spices.

In 1949, Harland Sanders received the rank of colonel thanks to his success in the
Kentucky area. However, Harland Sanders prefers to be called businessman.

In 1953, Harland Sanders received an offer to sell his restaurant for a price of one
hundred and sixty four thousand dollars. Although this number is very tempting,
but Harland Sanders refused.

Bankrupt
After a few years, the layout of the city of Kentucky has changed, so the restaurant
is no longer strategic and attract visitors. This is the reason why he was forced to
sell it through an open auction for seventy-five thousand dollars. This amount is not
enough to pay the debts.

1000 More Rejection

The Colonel decided to retire. He got a hundred and five dollars from Harland
Sanders' own social security and his wife's. Even though the condition of the soul
was broken and lacking, Harland Sanders did not give up.

Harland Sanders tries to sell KFC-style fried chicken recipes to restaurants in the
Outta region, USA. He tried to offer the recipe. Harland Sanders took to the markets
to promote the idea of selling KFC chicken, even though he was old and had
rheumatic disease.

Harland Sanders sometimes sleeps in the car to pay for his hotel payment. For two
years traveling around, Harland Sanders could only satisfy five restaurants. The
chicken recipe he offers is more rejected and laughed at.

During the two years around offering his recipes there were more than 1000
rejections he received. Without knowing surrender and sure to succeed, he kept
trying.

Finally the fried chicken recipe was much loved by American people at that time.
His struggles that did not know tirelessly paid off with the practice of his fried
chicken recipe. Until when the age of colonel Harland Sanders turned seventy, the
number of restaurants that were part of the KFC franchise reached two hundred
places, in the USA and Canada.

After reaching this number, Harland Sanders stopped going around because many
people came to his residence to consult. Finally, he fully helped his wife to prepare
a food recipe consisting of several types of spice plants and spices.

He then sold it through the post. Until now, the recipe was unknown except for a
few people who did not exceed the number of one-handed fingers.
Success at the age of 70 years

In 1963, there were six hundred restaurants under the KFC franchise. The amount
is too much and it is impossible for him to carry it himself. Therefore, Harland
Sanders decided to sell his KFC franchise business to Jhon Brown Junior and a
millionaire, Jack Mass for one million dollars.

In addition, Sanders also gets forty thousand dollars in salary every month for life
(then increases to seventy-five thousand dollars) in exchange for his role as a
consultant, advertisements he has published, and his position as president of the
company.

Harland Sanders died

Colonel Harland Sanders died in 1980 and was buried in Louisville. In 1982, the
KFC franchise business became part of a Reynolds subsidiary and in 1986, KFC
was bought by the Pepsi Cola company for eight hundred forty million dollars.

In 1995, the number of restaurants reached nine thousand. His staff reached seven
hundred fifty thousand people in ninety-two countries worldwide in 2005.

It's never too late to start a business even though it's very old. That is what was
proven by Colonel Harland Sanders. The inspiring story of getting up and running
in the effort of the founder of KFC is very worthy of listening.
