Theory:

 Revision: Rhythms, Note Values, Whole Note – Half note –


Quarter Note.
 Understanding and singing the rhythm pattern of a song along
with steady beat.

Practical:

 Revision: playing “twinkle twinkle” and “hot cross buns” with the
beat.

Grade 2:

Theory:

 Revision: and introduction to Rhythms, Note Values, Whole Note


– Half note – Quarter Note etc.
 Understanding ‘Tied’ notes.
 How to play ‘Tied’ notes and whole notes.

Practical:

 Revision of D major scale.


 Keeping time with the beat.
 Playing the main melody of Chotta Bheem at slow and quick
tempo accompanied by percussion.

Grade 3:
Theory:

 Revision: Rhythms, Note Values, Whole Note – Half note –


Quarter Note, eighth note, triplet etc.
 Name clapping and clapping the note values over two bars.
 Holding the notes on half note and whole note rhythm values.

Practical:

 Revision: Playing while singing the song ‘Nani teri Morni’.


 Playing each bar of the song in the ‘C’ major scale notes with the
right hand.
 ‘Nani teri Morni’ - Understanding the rhythm claps of the song
Singing according the notes of the song.

Grade 4 and 5:

Theory:

 Revision: Rhythms, Note Values, Whole Note – Half note –


Quarter Note etc.
 Revision of dotted notes.
 Rhythm clapping activities to identifying the rest symbols and
‘Tied’ notes.
 Understanding the concept of simple Time signatures of
2/4,3/4,4/4.

Practical:

 Revision: Understanding and playing scale notes and finger


positions on notes ‘E’ and ‘B’.

 ‘Popeye’ theme song – Playing 8 bars accompanied with drum
beats revision.

Grade 6, 7 and 8:

Theory:

 Revision of the Note values – Whole note, half note, quarter note
etc.
 Clapping eighth notes and sixteenth notes.
 Understanding ‘Circle of fifths’
 Construction of Major scales

Practical:

 Revision and preparation for Band-it competition:


 Playing the chord changes using beats and rests at 80 bpm.
 Playing the ‘bass’ lines – understanding the notes of the pedal
note bass lines.
 Combining to play as a Band – blending together Melody,
Harmony and Bass to the drum beats with variations.
 Practicing songs for the All India ‘Band-it’ competition – mash up
of ‘Senorita’ and ‘Kal ho na ho’ on guitar and keyboard.
