Theme: An “ On paper spotlight on engineering and science education”
Editorial: Department of Civil Engineering is starting this monthly bulletin, with
the aim to share the knowledge, create awareness on engineering and science
education and quench our academic appetite. Also attempt has been made to
make it as a print medium for “On paper spotlight” on engineering and science
education and related topics. We are optimistic that, features like article and quiz
capsule will be useful for students, teachers and all engineering and science
scholars in reinforcing their knowledge and establishment of a better society.
Article: An Introduction to Engineering
The word engineering has emerged from Latin word “ingenium” meaning
“cleverness” and “ingeniare” meaning “to contrive/devise”. Engineering is the
application of scientific, economic, social, and practical knowledge in order to
invent, design, build, maintain, and improve structures, machines, devices,
systems, materials and processes. The discipline of engineering is extremely
broad, and encompasses a range of more specialized fields of engineering,
each with a more specific emphasis on particular areas of applied science,

 ENGINEERING & SCIENCE FOCUS:: AITK

Engineers play key role in shaping up and advancing our society by providing
grooved solutions to specific problems with integrated knowledge on engineering
principles, as well as basic sciences. Engineers are capable to synthesize solutions
by applying the knowledge with logic and calculations. The present day engineers
fully equipped with subject and application should be shaped up to meet the
upcoming global challenges. The Engineering and Science Focus::AITK is aimed to
provide the budding engineers with an extra tool of awareness to be added to
their skill tool kit in order to face the future with confidence and alacrity.
