3rd STUDENTS’ COLLOQUIUM
(INTER COLLEGE MEET)
On 24 January 2019
STUDENTS’ COLLOQUIUM is an Annual event that started in April 2017 under the supervision of Dr. Alka
Singh. STUDENTS’ COLLOQUIUM provides a platform to young blooming minds to expose themselves to a
literary world that is critical, transitional and open to experiments.
This is the third year of the STUDENTS’ COLLOQUIUM and the theme chosen is Negotiating Context,
Form, and Theory in Indian English Fiction which will enable students to assess and explicate the
text in the post -2000 framework.
Concept Note:
Indian English Literature is a recent development and truly an honest enterprise to demonstrate the ever rare
gems of Indian Writing in English. Indian Writing has turned out to be a new form of Indian culture and voice in
which India communicates regularly. Indian Writers – poets, novelists, essayists, and dramatists have been
making meaningful and substantial contributions to World Literature since pre – Independence era. The past few
years have witnessed a enormous prospering and thriving of Indian English Writing in the global market.
Indian English Literature has attained a sovereign position in the sphere of World Literature. Wide ranges of
themes are dealt within Indian Writing in English. While this literature continues to reflect on Indian culture,
tradition, social values and even Indian history through the depiction of life in India and Indians living
elsewhere; and among other genres it is also observed that recent Indian English fiction has been trying to give
expression and voice to the Indian experience of the modern predicaments.
The present colloquium intends to bring students to a platform where they engage themselves in certain relevant
discourses of contemporary times relating to Indian English fiction. In keeping with this the possible topics
could be as follow:

2 - 3 Students from each college are invited to present their paper on the aforesaid subthemes.
