1 5 Organisational Using examples from one or more of the following Construction, Healthcare and Climate change illustrate your
Renewal – understanding of the following terms and their use in OL&D practices:
The Challenge
of Change a. Benchmarking
b. Vested Interests
c. Bounded Rationality
d. Loops of learning
2 10 Virtual In our study of OL&D we learned that Agile Learning Transformations are based on a clear understanding of
Organisations- concepts like:
Agile Learning
and a. Learn and Unlearn Rapidly,
Development b. Working Lean,
Practice and c. Communicating and Committing both resources and management support to ‘agile’ working and
Process d. Interrogating Mental Models
In your own words demonstrate your comprehension of these concepts using examples drawn from the literature or your
own experiences.

3 11 Power, The impacts of power and political games in OL&D were identified as having triggers. Discuss these triggers and
Politics and explain the role an OL&D consultant would play in reducing these challenges (dark side of organisational
Organisational politics).
Development
4 12 Creativity and Rachel Barker (2016) Figure 3, refers to the creation of Knowledge Management Organisations and the role of
Innovation for Technical, Communication and Human Components in building these organisations. Using examples show how
Sustainable the practice of Mindfulness can contribute to creativity and transformation using these structural, connectivity
Organisations and behavioural features of Learning Organisations.
5 13 Diversity, Several authors (Greany, Ghosh, Wallbank) identified learning trends that would become essential for an OL&D
Globalisation, specialist to understand as learning transformations of the future. Using examples, describe the trends related
Gamification, to Data Management, Social Learning, Reskilling of the workforce and the use of AI, Virtual and Augmented
Change and Reality and the use of Robots that will impact on OL&D.

Sample Answer:
1a. Benchmarking
The use of benchmarking is used widely in construction, healthcare and climate change associated industries. Businesses like Energy Companies like
Integral compare their prices and costs against their competitiors and industry standards. Construction and Development business do the same. This
allows them to identify weaknesses and opportunities . When companies perform better than the industry standard (for example the use of lithium
battery power in South Australia ) it develops a Unique Selling Proposition (USP) for the company to use in its branding and marketing to consumers). In
the construction industry when developer X has a higher rate of workplace accidents than their competitiors and industry standards it identifies an
opportunity to improve learning and training through workplace safety programs. These programs might also be regulated by government policy and OL&D
specialists hired to deliver them. This is also the case in healthcare – especially as adverse publicity resulting from not meeting benchmark standards can be
extremely catastrophic for patients, staff and the reputation of the hospital.

1d.
The importance of Learning Loops cannot be understated in OL&D practices. The five types of learning loops are Single, Double, Triple, Proto and Deutero
learning. Deutero learning also called Transformational learning is particularly significant in OL&D practices and its use in health care is notable. The use of
robots and artificial intelligence is growing in the healthcare sector and is regularly illustrated by the use of robots in delivering services in rural and remote
areas with a specialist based in the city guiding the local medical team. Other instances include the use of robots to perform surgery with the specialist
guiding the arms. These practices and uses of double and triple loop learning are also evident in the construction and energy industries especially in
organisations striving to be learning and knowledge management leaders. For example the use of low/no polluting and recycled materials in building and
construction management including aspects such as gardens and solar power all exemplify wider aspects like questioning mental models about climate
change and its reasons and consequences for the future. New technology and innovation comes from double and triple loop learning where the ‘rules are
changed’ and the ‘why’ of actions is questioned by individuals, teams and organisations.
