FAMILY DESCRIPTION

Family B is an extended family composed of 5 members (father, eldest son, daughter, youngest son, and grandson) with their
age ranging from 1 year old to 65 years old. The other family member was not with them anymore because they have their
own family and house which is far from them, and the other one is working in manila so there are only five members of the
family who live in that house. They live in a single storey house made of mixed woods and cement. The wife of father B died
last September 2017 because of hypertension. Father B is a farmer so when the weather is good he leave very early in the
morning so he could start working without heat to prevent from heatstroke, and he goes home late in the afternoon. But when
he doesn’t have a work he stays at home and help her daughter watch his grandson and he also washed their clothes when
his daughter is busy with other stuff. His son the eldest, is also working as a helper at the factory at Naga City, he rarely went
home and stay with his co-worker to reduce expenses, like fare. So he sometimes stays at home for a weekend. The
daughter live with her father even though she is married but they are in a long distant relationship because his working in
manila to provide their needs, especially the baby’s need.
The family was in a good state of health, they never skip meals because they always have a budget for the foods because
they know what might be the effect to their health if they skip meals.

FAMILY BACKGROUND
The family is an extended family consisting of five members. They been living there for 25 years. Father B was an elementary
graduate, he didn’t finish schooling because of financial problem. His son the eldest, is a high school graduate. The daughter
is graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

FAMILY MEDICAL HISTORY

Everyone in the family suffers from cough and cold because of the climate change. Recently the baby suffers from tonsillitis
because he always eat solid food that does not really appropriate for his age but now the baby is in good state of health. The
mother of the baby experiences dizziness and headaches because her blood pressure is very low. The children completed
their immunization and also the mother of the baby completed the immunization when she got pregnant.
SOCIO-ECONOMIC PROFILE
The work of the family’s father is a farmer, his income in a month is approximately Php 1000.00. One of his sons also work as
a “boy” or a helper in a factory. His daughter graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, she was searching for a job
that is related to her course, but currently she is taking care of her baby. The father of the child is also contributing to their
monthly expenses and the baby’s need.

HEALTH AGENCY UTILIZED

They always go to the Bicol Access when they are ill and for the check-up of the baby. Our interviewee said that “kung mag
pipila lang naman ng matagal sa private nalang ako mas aasikasuhin pa ako, okay naman na mahal basta para sa
kalusugan”. That’s why they always go to Bicol Access despite the expensive bill.

SPIRITUALITY ASPECT
The members of the family are all Roman Catholic. They often go to church and attend the Holy Mass. They rarely participate
in a church event, but they often pray, recite the rosary and novenas, they also attends some prayer meeting.

MATERNAL AND CHILD CARE

The daughter of father B delivered his one year old child through a normal delivered spontaneous vaginal delivery. She
stopped lactating a month after the baby was born. The baby was only breastfed for a month and was given powdered milk
as a substitute until now.

NUTRITIONAL STATUS
The family never skipped meals and eats all together every day. They always eat nutritional food and often eat canned
goods. They feed the baby a powdered milk and other solid food that the baby us capable to eat.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The family lives in a single storey house made of mixed cement, wood and concrete flooring. They have their own bathroom,
a fairly clean bathroom. The kitchen is not that good because it is an open kitchen and the floor was made of soil. Despite
this, the utensil is neat and equipment were properly arranged except for the water container because it is very old and over
use. However, the kitchen gets flooded sometimes due to heavy rainfall. This also cause the place to get muddy whenever it
rains. The surrounding are clean so it was not a threat to their health, and there are only one animal which is the chicken and
it has a home at the back of their house.
