the Prophets, who received the word from God TYPE AND FORM OF REVELATION Al-Quran -inspiration (37:102), Ibrahim received guidance in a vision while -the speech of Allah sent down upon the last Prophet asleep to sacrifice his son Muhammad through the angel Gabriel in its precise -speech hidden away (27:8) related that God spoke to Musa from meaning and precise wording, transmitted to us by the fire numerous person (tawatur) both verbally in writing- -inimitable and unique, protected by God form -words (speech) sent through a special messenger from God corruption (2:97), God sent Gabriel as the messenger to Muhammad to -Furqan, Tanzil, Dhikr,Kitab receive His message -other references to the Quran is nur (light), hudan(guidance), rahma(mercy), majid(glorious), THE ORIGIN OF THE QURAN mubarak(blessing) and etc. -from the lauh al mahfuz to the lowest of the heavens of the world, all together, in the Laila al-qadr Hadith -narration, news, reports about the sunna of the -from the heaven to earth, on stages 23 years of Muhammad’s Prophet Muhammad on what he said (Qaul), What Prophethood, fist in the Laila al-qadr of Ramadan through Angel he did (Fi’il), What he silently approved(Iqrar) in Gabriel (refer to : Sura al-Isra’ verse 17 and Sura al-Furqan verse others action, what he like (Sifa) 25) -difference between Quran and Hadith 1.the words of action from human being, not the REASON AL-QURAN WAS SENT DOWN THROUGH STAGES speech of God like Quran to strengthen the heart of Prophet Muhammad 2. not necessarily reported in the precise wording as whenever he need its guidance arose the Quran out of consideration-the first one was shocking to 3.not necessarily transmitted by tawatur (a him numerous person) to gradually implement the law of Allah 4. not protected against corruption by Allah to make sure understanding, mesmerizing and application easier to believers Hadith Qudsi DEFINITIVE -Qudsi means holy, pure -has clear/ specific meaning -reports from the Prophet Muhammad where he relates -we can understand immediately to the people what God has said or did, but this -it has only one meaning information is not part of the Quran (Al Nur , 24:4) -example : Abu Hurairah reported that Allah’s messenger said “Allah, Mighty and Exalted is He, said: If my servants like to meets me, I like to meet him, and if he dislikes to SPECTATIVE ( AYAT MUTASHABIHAT) meet him, I dislike to meet him” -uncertain or resembling the another -both Quran and Hadith Qudsi contain words from Allah -confusion, not really specific, which have been revealed to Muhammad -There is need of tafsir to explain -the differences: -best way to explain is through another ayat, awl, with 1. Quran the precise wording from Allah, HQ wording is hadith given by Prophet Muhammad -example : 2. Quran brought to Muhammad by JIbril, HQ may have at the opening of ayat Ya Sin (Ya Sin, 36:1) been inspired such as dream ayat related to the self of ALLAH 3. Quran transmitted tawatur, HQ only by few individual ( al-Fath, 48:10) CHARACTERISTIC OF KNOWLEDDGE IN ISLAM
