3. Installation, Mechanical, Electrical & Adjustment

3.1 Mounting Stem Length (Fig.1)
The lamp is supplied in three standard stem lengths to suit ceiling heights AL50CA for 3m ceilings,
AL50CB for 2.6m ceilings and AL50CC for 2.45m ceilings. The
AL50CA & AL50CB can be cut to suit lower ceilings if required,
please see appendix B for the calculation method. Disconnect
the cable from 24v output from the transformer, remove three (1) Grub Screw Long x 1
grub screws (1) & (2) and withdraw the interface (4) from the (2) Grub Screw Short x 2
stem tube (3). The tube can now be cut to size, ensure the cut is
kept square. Affix the self-adhesive drilling template to the end of
(3) Stem Tube
the stem tube (3) and drill and tap 3 x M6 x 1mm holes. Re-fit
the interface (4) into the stem tube (3) ensure the short grub Fig.1
screws (2) are used in the two lower fixing points and the long
grub screw (1) is fixed to the upper fixing point. The long grub
screw (1) is used as a security pin so ensure that the screw is (4) Interface
fully inserted into the stem tube (3) and through into the interface
(4).

3.2 Ceiling Anchor Ring (Fig.2)

Where the ceiling is uneven or not level a ceiling anchor ring Ceiling Anchor Ring
should be used (Brandon part no. 12972). The plate should be
secured to the building using 4 off M10 fixings. The pre-
assembled lamp-mounting stem should be secured to the
anchor ring using M10 nuts above and below the mounting Half Nut
collar. The lamp stem can be made perpendicular by adjusting Fig.2
the M10 nuts. Otherwise, the pre-assembled lamp-mounting
stem must be securely fastened to the building using 4 off M10
or equivalent fixings. It is essential that the mounting is both Nylok Nut
secure and perpendicular to ensure safe and trouble free
operation. Care should be taken to allow safe routing of

electrical supply cables. The selection of the correct fixing and the safe execution of the fixing of the
lamp are the responsibility of the installer.

before connecting. Standard models include Astralite 230V ac Input

an integral transformer and should be

supplied with an appropriate switched and
fused mains supply. An appropriate external
transformer to supply a nominal 24V ac
should supply “ST” models.

All units should be wired and earthed as shown. Fig.4

A suitable switch can be used to isolate the
mains supply. The supply must be fused at 5A. PRE-INSTALLED SUPPLY SUPPLIED EQUIPMENT

• Do not use without heat filter fitted. This filter protects the patient from high intensity Infra
Red light. Use of the lamp without the filter would cause discomfort to the patient and
prolonged exposure may cause injury.

• Only use correct bulb LF22.8V50W Use of incorrect light bulb will result in impaired
performance, can cause damage to the product and may present a fire risk.

5.3 Spring Adjustment

If the lamp head drifts up or down then the spring arm
tension will need adjusting. Pull the spring arm down
Push
about until the hole in the knuckle cover points upwards
and a screw is visible under the hole.
If the spring arms drifts down, the spring force is too low:
the setting screw must be rotated to the left
