CHAPTER 2

REQUIREMENT ANALYSIS

2.1 INITIAL INVESTIGATION:

The pharmacy management system serves many purposes, including the safe and
effective dispensing of pharmaceutical drugs. During the dispensing process, the system will
prompt the pharmacist to verify the medication they have filled is for the correct patient, contains
the right quantity and dosage, and displays accurate information on the prescription label.
Advanced pharmacy management systems offer clinical decision support and may be configured
to alert the pharmacist to perform clinical interventions, such as an opportunity to offer verbal
counseling if the patient’s prescription requires additional education.

2.1.1 Benefit to the organization

The organization will obviously be able to gain benefits such as savings in operating cost,
reduction in paperwork, better utilization of human resources ad more presentable image
increasing goodwill. The other benefits are improved service and faster and better access to
up-to-date information.

2.1.2 The initial cost

The initial cost of setting up the system will include the cost of hardware (server/clients,
network adapter and related hardware), software(server OS, add-on software, utilities) &
labor(setup & maintenance). The same must bear by the organization.

2.1.3 Running cost

Besides, the initial cost the long-term cost will include the running cost for the system
including the Appointment charges, cost for human resources, cost for update/renewal of various
related software.
2.1.4 Need for training

The users along with the administrator need to be trained at the time of implementation of the
system for smooth running of the system. The training set should be provided.

Requirement Analysis

2.2 INFORMATION GATHERING:

The project was designed with the help of online sources. Most of which was from website
and by watching videos of other web developers who have shared their knowledge in YouTube.
Google is also a perfect platform for learning, where ideas and bug fixes are available given by
the other developers. It is the best search engine for gathering most of the data needed.

W3Schools is an educational web site for learning web technologies online. It offers a
learning platform for the following languages. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, Python,
AngularJS, SQL, Node.js, jQuery, XQuery, AJAX, and XML.

2.3 FEASIBILITY STUDY

Feasibility study is the measure of how beneficial or practical the development of an

information system will be to an organization. The Feasibility analysis is a cross life cycle
activity and should be continuously performed throughout the system life cycle.

2.3.1 Operational feasibility:

By automating the process both the clients and pharmacist will feel better than when it was
manual. Clients will get a very quick service by reducing the manual recordings. Also,
Pharmacist will feel comfortable by reduction of their work. Recording errors will be reduced.
Database can be managed easily. Loss of records will be avoided. Considering all these factors
we can conclude that all the users and end users will be satisfied by the system.

2.3.2 Technical feasibility:

For the design and development of the system, several software products have been
accommodated.

1.Database design – MySQL, or any free DBMS.

2.Interface design – HTML , CSS & JavaScript.

3.Coding – PHP or any other supported Language.

This software’s have the enough efficiency in producing the system. Therefore, the project is
technically feasible.

Requirement Analysis

2.3.3 Economic feasibility:

According to the resources available and the project scheduling process it is estimated that
the expenses allocated for the software to be developed, by the customer is enough. Hence the
economical factor has been considered feasible.

2.4 Existing System

In the existing system, the transaction related to sales and maintaining of stocks records are
maintained manually at present. These are to be automated and an application is required to
relate of them relatively and logically so that the current system can be replaced and accepted
without major changes and problems. Also the issue’s such as information is not managed
efficiently, discrepancies of stock items, its hard to determine stock balance, time consuming and
tedious preparation of daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports, are not addressed.

2.5 Proposed System

In this system we provide inventory management tools that allow pharmacists to reorder items,
return unused stock, and organize shelf labels. Ideally, pharmacies keep a lean inventory to avoid
spending money on products that remain undispensed on their shelves. Pharmacy management
systems also support the electronic data exchange (EDE) between pharmacies and wholesalers,
which digitizes shipping and receiving orders, catalog updates, and pricing changes.A system feature
that notifies the pharmacy when the balance on hand (BOH) has changed for an item and may need to
be re-ordered.

2.6 Advantages of proposed System

1. Low cost of ownership

2. It is helpful in increasing productivity and resultantly profitability.
3. It is a flexible system that can be customized as per your requirements.
4. There are wide-ranging modules created keeping in mind all the requirements, with separate
login for pharmacy administrator & employees.
5. It offers Smart User Management by assigning different privileges to different users.
6. There are a number of useful features available in the system such as Expiry Date Alert &
Minimum Stock Alert.
