Specific Learning Objective
1. Determine the main idea and supporting ideas of a short selection (mini concept paper).
2. Analyze the structure in defining a term/concept.
3. Write an essay by defining a concept/term.

The students will give a brief overview about the idea of the course.
1. What are the different defining techniques?
 Motivation
1. Present flashcard of different words. Let the students give the definition of the words.

B. Developmental Activities

1. The students will be group by five.
2. Each group will be given a copy of a short selection.
3. The students will analyze the structure how to define a concept.

B. Analysis
1. What does the short selection about? What is the main idea of the text?
2. How was the concept being defined?
3. What defining techniques are used in defining the concept?

C. Abstraction
1. Discussion of the topic.
 Art of Defining A Concept
2. At the end of the discussion, the students will be asked about their learnings on the
discussion.
D. Application
The students will write an essay that defines a certain term or concept that has a special
value or impact in their life.

V. Assessment
Five item quiz about the structure in defining a concept.

VI. Assignment
Conduct a research about the basic content of a concept paper.
