and promotes this annual spring celebration on behalf
of the Village of Kaslo and the town’s businesses and
organizations.
Expectation: That the successful candidate will co-
ordinate the May Days 2020 by applying the best practices
as are outlined in the ‘How To May Days’ manual, supplied
in digital form at the request of all interested parties.
After receiving the instructional manual, interested
parties will submit their applications that will demonstrate:
their understanding of, and their ability to plan such an
event by completing a timeline of tasks they believe will
culminate in a successful May Day celebration.
The Chamber Board will be looking for a methodical

Restoring important wildlife habitat
The Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society (CKISS)
is leading a three year restoration project at Beaver Creek
Provincial Park in Trail to improve wildlife habitat and
to reduce erosion along the creek bed. With the help of
volunteers from J.L. Crowe Secondary School and Selkirk
College, invasive plants were mechanically removed and
the area was replanted with native trees and shrubs this
past fall.

to assist with restoration efforts by putting on their gardening gloves and
planting a variety of native shrubs, plants and trees. Students also hand
watered the newly planted shrubs and discussed the ecological and cultural
value of the native species.

students, teachers, our partners and our funders. The natives that we planted at
the park have been given a good start and we are hopeful that they will survive

The restoration endeavor is funded by Environment Canada’s Eco Action

door handle as an infected person

defense is washing your hands and
