4.-Definitions.-

OPERATIONAL POINT: It’s the intersection point between Flow and Total Head
according to the specified conditions.

SPEED CORRECTION: In order to correct the Test Data and adequate it to all
curves, Hydraulic Affinity Laws can be applied. Another way of correction is testing
the pump at different speed.

5. - Responsibilities.-
OL
Performance Test Lab Chief is responsible for applying and controlling this
document.
R

*Assembly Leader (Supervisor) is responsible for providing the technical

documentation and equipment to the Lab Chief; also he has to notify that missing
NT

information needs to be downloaded from Adept System.

6. - Procedure.-
CO

6.1 Initial Stage.

*6.1.1 Assembly / Production: Once the equipment or bare pumps are totally
assembled, they’re sent to the Performance Lab in order to be tested.
UN

6.2 Technical Data.

6.2.1 Lab: Every single technical information is analyzed in order to determine the
measurable parameters as: Flow (m3/h / gpm), Total Head (m / ft), Power (kw /
bhp), Efficiency (%) y Speed (rpm).

The equipments are tested with a 1.0 specific gravity fluid. If equipment is

operating with a different fluid, corrections have to be made in order to guarantee

PY
correct results. Corrections depend on operational fluid.

*This document enunciates the way a standard performance test is executed.

CO
If Project requirements are different according to a special request or any
Regulation, Law and Norm (HIS, API or NFPA 20), procedure has to be changed
in order to obtain satisfactory results.

6.3 Test Selection and Measurement Instrumentation.

6.3.1 Test Selection and Measurement Instrumentation are according to the

Technical data and Equipment Size.
LE
OL
6.4 Mechanical and Electrical Installation.

6.4.1 Electrical Equipment Connection should be according to the motor

connection diagram, ensuring that rotation is in the right direction that’s
R

established in the Technical Data.

NT

6.4.2 Revise and verify before the Test is executed:

-Right Motor Connection. It should be according to the connections diagram.
-Power motor lines should be isolated.
-Check equipment rotation.
CO

-Verify inexistent leaks in flanges.

-The pump should be rigidly supported above the surface.
- Check lubrication levels in pump as motor.
UN

6.5 Parameters.

**6.5.1 Parameters are defined in the Technical Data; the Forms FOR 8.2.4-10,
FOR 8.2.4-11, FOR 9.4.2-01 could be used to register the Equipment
Performance Test.

6.6 Test development.

PY
**6.6.1 Forms FOR 8.2.4-10, 11, 9.4.2-01 can be used in order to register data

along the performance test.

CO
6.6.2 There are two types of Performance Tests: Witnessed and No Witnessed.

6.6.2.1 For no witnessed tests, Quality Assurance Department certifies the Tests,

verifying that Project operation conditions are fulfilled.

*6.6.2.2 For witnessed tests, the Customer representative comes into
Ruhrpumpen facilities to certify the Tests. He verifies equipments are according to
Project operation conditions. If Customer can’t attend to the Performance test, he

LE
has the obligation of sending a memo or some notice advice explaining the
reasons for that situation.
OL
6.7 Performance test developmental method

6.7.1 First, a booster pump feeds the piping from the test bench that has been
R

selected. This applies to horizontal pumps, vertical are not included. For vertical,
please check from 6.7.2.
NT

6.7.2 Testing equipment is switched on.

6.7.3 All operation points registered will depend on the Norm, law or procedure
CO

applied or the Project requirements; otherwise this procedure has to be followed.

6.7.4 For the first test value, the following instructions have to be observed: By
regulating the flow into the discharge valve according to operation, the data are
registered by the measurement instrumentation used in the test bench.
UN

**6.7.5 The flow regulation is registered into the Forms FOR 8.2.4-10, FOR 8.2.4-
11, FOR 9.4.2-01, also the measurement instrumentation data has to be
registered in:
Manometers for pressure values. Infrared pyrometer for temperature
Power analyzer for power values. values.
Tachometer for speed values. Vibration analyzer for vibration values.

Performance Test Lab

6.7.6 The operation values are registered in the operation point column along the

Test development; according to the Project or Law/Regulation/Norm applied, and

PY
so on.

*6.7.7 Finally, the values observed in the Test development are registered in the

CO
Form FOR 8.2.4-10, FOR 8.2.4-11, FOR 8.2.4-15 or FOR 8.2.4-16, as applicable
and the Performance Curve is included. Those data are evaluated with their
acceptance criteria according to (for example) HIS, API o NFPA 20, that

guarantee satisfactory results. When acceptance criteria are achieved, the Form
and Curve are sent to the Quality Assurance Department for final revision and

Equipment release.

6.7.12 If test conditions don't satisfy acceptance criteria, a rework should be

LE
carried out into the equipment. Once rework is finished, the performance test is
executed again (see point 6.6 in this procedure).

7. - Quality Records.-
R

Performance Tests registered in Forms FOR 8.2.4-10, FOR 8.2.4-11, FOR 8.2.4-
15, FOR 8.2.4-16 and FOR 9.4.2-01, also performance curves are archived for a
NT

4 years period into the Performance Test Lab by Lab Chief in electronic form. The
original documentation is saved by Documentation Control Engineer in the
Documentation Control Department according to each project.
