WARDANCE/DANCE CHEER COMPETITION
Official Rules and Regulations

General Guidelines

1. The War Dance & Dance Cheer Competition is open to all bonafide
students of Trimex Colleges.
2. The competition should have a combination of the following:
 War Dance - A war dance is a dance involving mock combat,
usually in reference to tribal warrior societies where such
dances were performed as a ritual connected with endemic
warfare. Martial arts in various cultures can be performed in
dance-like settings for various reasons, such as for evoking
ferocity in preparation for battle or showing off skill in a
more stylized manner. It could also be for celebration of valor
and conquest. Many such martial arts incorporate music,
especially strong percussive rhythms.
 Dance Cheer – A Cheering routine incorporated with
movement, yells and dance.

3. There should only be one group per department that will be endorsed by
the Department Head.
4. Official Department are the following:

 College of Business and Accountancy (BSBA, BSOA, BSA,


BSAT & BM)
 College of Computer Studies (BSCS & BSIT)
 College of Engineering (BSCpE & EIT)
 Hotel Restaurant Services
 College of Education & College of Hospitality
Management
 College of Arts and Sciences (BSSW, ABPsych & NA)
 SHS – Grade 11
 SHS – Grade 12

5. The Awards shall be as follow:

Major Awards:
1. Champion 6,000.00
2. 1st Runner – up 4,000.00
3. 2nd Runner – up 3,000.00
4. Consolation Prizes 1,000.00
6. The criteria for judging shall be as follows:

Performance 30%
Choreography 30%
Costume and Props 15%
Music and Yells 15%
Overall Impact 10%
Total: 100%

7. Component of the Criteria:

A. Performance (Execution and Interpretation)


 Mastery
 Unity and Precision
 Skills and Techniques
 Discipline
 Dynamics (Qualities of Movement)

B. Choreography
 Concept
 Clarity of the Idea presented
 Composition (Artistic Balance and Arrangement)

C. Costume and Props


 Visual Impact
 Appropriateness of the presentation
 Durability during the performance

D. Music and Yells


 Rhythmic Variety
 Instrumental Arrangement
 Clarity of Yells
 Mastery and Precision

8. Judges decision is final and non-contestable.


9. Strict compliance of the rules and regulation must be observed. Sanction
shall be applied on specific area as prescribe.

Rules for the Dance Competition

1. Each group shall be composed of a minimum of 40 and maximum of 60


dancers not included the props men and must be enrolled students of
Trimex.
2. Routine should not be shorter than SIX Minutes but not longer than
SEVEN Minutes. Entrance and exit are not included.
3. During the performance, the group managers, choreographers and other
members of the training staff shall not be allowed to coach nor direct the
performance. They may only be allowed at the sides and back. Five (5)
points shall be deducted from the score in the Choreography Criteria in
case of violation.
4. Music can be taped or live music.
5. The group that will be using taped music must submit a cd/flash drive
with label a day before the competition. There should be a back-up copy
in case the submitted music fails to play.
6. Acrobatics, Tumbling, Pyramids, Tossing and other Cheerleading stunts
except for Jumps are prohibited in any part of the routine.
Disqualification to the competition will be given to any participating
group who disobeys this rule.
