You are to write and illustrate a postcard to Abuelita from Esperanza.


The following are the requirements:

1. You must write a letter to Abuelita from Esperanza, the following should be included:
 explanation of how Esperanza’s life has changed
 explanation of what is wrong with Mama
 Esperanza’s plea for Abuelita to come to California

2. You must illustrate the front of your postcard; the following should be included:
 illustration must be colored using colored pencil only
 illustration should cover the entire front of the postcard
 illustration should depict the scenery of the valley in which Esperanza is living in
California

3. Create a stamp to put on your postcard that is relevant to the story. Research how much
stamps cost during the 1930’s, and put that price on your stamp.
4. Use the following address on your postcard:
