OneDrive
OneDrive is designed to be a sync client – it faithfully replicates
changes made on the endpoint to the cloud. This can include
good changes and bad.
OneDrive synchronizes files placed in the OneDrive folder on the
endpoint. Unless users remember to place their important data
in that folder, that data won’t move to the cloud.
Users may easily access or delete the copies of data on
OneDrive by accident or even willfully.
OneDrive is designed as an end-user utility and allows very little
control in terms of centralized management and monitoring
One Drive has certain published limitations that may disallow
users from easily migrating certain types of files to the cloud.
OneDrive also skips files if they are in use by other applications.
It is true that OneDrive preserves older versions of files even if
the latest copies are infected/deleted by Ransomware. But
recovery is painful and involves hours of laborious work going
through each file in the OneDrive console to view and retrieve
previous versions

Parablu
Parablu is designed to be a backup solution – which makes a reliable,
retrievable, versioned copy of the endpoint’s files in the cloud. This copy
is insulated from any actions on the endpoint
Parablu allows administrators to set policies from a central management
console which defines which folders and types of files to include (or
exclude) from the backup. Parablu’s agent scours the entire endpoint to
find all the right data to backup to One Drive.
Users can access the backed up data, but in a read-only format for
restores. The copies of data made into OneDrive by Parablu are not visible
to the user and are also in an obfuscated form. Deletion of these copies is
determined by policies set by the administrator and cannot be done by
the end user.
Parablu is an enterprise class backup solution and has built-in centralized
policy based management, audit logging, and detailed reports that help to
ensure compliance.
Parablu integrates directly with Office 365 APIs and doesn’t depend on
the OneDrive sync client. There are no limitations on types or sizes of files
which can be moved via Parablu. Parablu can also backup files in use.
Parablu’s one-click self-service restore mechanism means you can choose
to bring back an entire folder, drive or system in a single step. Start the
restore and walk away – the entire file/folder structure is faithfully
recovered on to the endpoint from the cloud copy.
Parablu is non-intrusive and can co-exist with the OneDrive client and
users may still use OneDrive for their normal use. Only a portion of the
OneDrive storage can be seamlessly allocated for backup use.
