STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Dear honourable,

My name is Thalitha. I am 28 years old. I comes from Indonesia. I graduated from Syarif Hidayatullah
Islamic University in 2014 through Islamic broadcasting and communication program. My Islamic
communication degree has given a strong foundation to my analytical skills since many problems in
muslim society involves a lot of long, complex and intricate calculations and the application of basic
communication skills. During 3,5 years, I finished my bachelor degree and scored best Grade Point
Average (3.97/4.00) among students in the university. Finally, I realized that I interested more in
commmunication science more than other things and I continued master degree in Padjajaran
University for communication science. I finished my master program in 2016 by the help of National
Scholarship of Indonesia (LPDP). Beyond my educational background as mentioned, I believe that
every step that I passed for study follow with strong commitment to done it well on time.

Over the past two years, I have been working full-time in Islamic University as lecture. This professional
role required me to believe in myself and in what I thought was good for my students at university. A
good lecture is one who can figure out where the problem lies, deal with it effectively by involving all the
member of students and improve the overall culture of the academic environment. I had to take a pro-
active approach, take the initiative and play a leadership role in motivating student and guiding their
education stages to the door of succesfull graduation. Student problems that I found today is in their
topics interest of reseachs but rarely lectures could be their supervisors for that topic. Most of them
choose digital communication for their research topic. The ratio between supervisor ability and students
in this case reaches 1:10.As the result, most of student do not be guided with related promotor. I attend
to help my students for discussing their topics even I am not becomes their supervisior. Actually, the
fact that I was able to pull off this task alone has boosted my confidence in my abilities. Study in digital
communication is urgent needs for my institution. I found it in Digital Humanities Science as conduct at
Hamad bin Khalifa University for the best place to continue my understanding about digital era and the
relationship with human social lives. Most of professor and assistant professor in Phd Programm of
Digital Humanities Science Hamad bin Khalifa University have specific research about digital current
issue around the world. Therefore, I interest to learn more there and perhaps I could be able to help my
students at the university.

To prepare my doctoral program, I concern to specific topic of research about social media analyzing
entitled : The Representation Of Islam Through/Toward Muslim Kids Animation On Youtobe Channel
Using Social Media Content Anaysis. The problem of reseach comes from phenomena Muslim kids
animation series on youtobe have been in demand since 2008 and indicates the high interest of the
community towards educational Islamic shows for children. Actively, content is produced and
disseminated through social media channels. Evidenced by the number of subscribers and the
productivity of content that is regularly published. Characterizations, visual images and lightweight
storylines are interleaved with a variety of Islamic values. This reseach will describe and explain about
how was muslim kids animation series content tobe producted, how was content tobe visualized by
creator and how to interprete the context to children behavior. These three kinds are purpose of my
reseach project.

I found that while everybody wanted an upgradation, they had doubts since they would have to learn a
whole set of new skills. To upgrade my self, I never give up to learn new thing. It seems to be challenging
and hard to fight, but I believe, I can pass the boundaries to experiences other educational culture. The
fighter is called name which can describe me as person. If one were to ask my friends to describe me
they would describe me as a very pleasant, diverse, active and intelligent woman. I think one of my
most distinguishing characteristics is the diversity of experiences I possess. I am a social student with
a sociable of environment. I am a woman with technical aptitude and an interest in communication I
also have a passion for traveling and understanding different cultures of the world. All these elements
have given me a very broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. I strongly
believe that although some are not related directly, all these qualities will influence my graduate work.
More than what I have studied in school and college, it has been these experiences that have shaped
the person that I am today. I believe that this unique blend of experiences has made me a woman with
an original point of view. This blend has given me a broader perspective to and a good understanding
of life and a goal to aim for.
