GUIDELINES FOR THE POST-EXCHANGE REPORT

TO BE SUBMITTED BY STUDENTS TO THEIR

HOME UNIVERSITY CEMMENTI PROGRAMME COORDINATORS

The CEMMENTI project is designed to build upon the exchange experiences of 54

students over a two year period. Feedback from the exchange students after the
completion of their exchange programmes is thus an important aspect of the larger
CEMMENTI project.

On his/her return, each student will submit in hard and soft copies (signed and dated) an
evaluative report. The report will focus on the student's experiences in and outside of the
classroom as they relate to the key themes of the CEMMENTI project. Please note that
these papers are NOT meant to be evaluations of the teaching and/or teaching methods of
specific lecturers at the host universities. Rather, they should communicate students'
reactions to living and learning about migration, nationalism, and related subject in a
foreign social and academic context.

The report should consist of the following sections:

1) STUDENT IDENTIFICATION
Where is the student coming from (socially, culturally, academically)?

2) ACADEMIC PROGRAMME TAKEN AT THE HOST UNIVERSITY

What subjects were studied? What was the core programme within which the student
found a temporary academic home? And how, if at all, did the general programme of
study affect the student's understanding of academia's engagement with subjects related
to migration and nation.

3) CEMMENTI-TARGETED COURSES
Students are asked to describe and reflect upon aspects of the courses studied that were of
most interest to them. Discussion in this section should amplify and suggest follow-up
on the content of the courses followed. Ideally, this section would consist of both a
theoretical discussion of the course content as it relates to CEMMENTI, and a more
practical discussion of the means by which the content of the courses under discussion
can be implemented into a broader curriculum.

4) BIBLIOGRAPHY
Students are also asked to include an annotated bibliography of texts that would be of use
in CEMMENTI courses. These may be course books used at the host university or other
books that the student has become familiar with through course work, research, or
personal interest in the subject. These texts will eventually form a common reference
basis for CEMMENTI courses.
5) FURTHER COMMENTS (optional)
Students are encouraged to comment upon any other experiences or observations
(academic or extra-curricular) during their period of exchange that might be considered
relevant to the CEMMENTI project.

FOLLOW-UP: VIRTUAL CLASS

Student papers, or part thereof, will be posted on the CEMMENTI web-site. This
material will form a fundamental section of the web-content related to CEMMENTI.
Students' input will be considered a valuable and essential aspect of the new shared
curriculum.

Upon the return of each student to his/her home institution, he/she will be put in touch
with other CEMMENTI students. Together these will form the first phase of the virtual
class. First and second year CEMMENTI exchange students will be encouraged to share
experiences and practical advice through the web-site. This will ensure that both first and
second year CEMMENTI students remain in contact with the project as it develops from
mobility to curriculum construction.
