Abbriviations (US):
• ss = slip stitch
• ssblo = slip stitch through the back loop only
• sc = single crochet
• hdc = half double crochet
• st(s) = stitch/stitches
• yo = yarn over
• ch = chain
• sk = skip
• inc ... = increase (make two ..... stitches in the same stitch)
• dec ... = decrease (crochet two stitches together)
• r = round/row

Pattern of the top:

Watch out!
The top will be crocheted in rows. After every row, you turn your work and you’ll chain 1 !! This
isn’t mentioned further in the pattern. It only says if you not have to chain!

Start with a chain of 19 stitches

r01: ssblo 18 (=18)

r02: ssblo 18 (=18)

Repeat r02 18 times. You have crochet 20 rows now.

r21: Chain now 22 en attache this chain with a ss on the other side of the top (Unto row 1).
Crochet back with ss through the back bump of the stitch until you are at the beginning of the chain.
Here you see a video. (Crochet in back bump starts at 1’25”.) Now scblo 18 downwards.

r22: scblo 14 upwards (=14)

r23 t/m r30: ssblo 14 (=14)
You are now at the top of the top.
Slip stitch one around the chain. Ga further.
r31 t/m r39: ssblo 14 (=14)
You are at the bottom of the top.

Put the top with the wrong sides together. Slip stitch the outside loops from both sides together.
Fasten of your yarn. Cut your thread and your top is finished!

Variation:
Chain 55 stitches. Now work the pattern until you crochet 26 rows (instead of 20 rows).
Crochet further as the pattern says. You’ve now created a dress!

Pattern for shorts:

First you’ll crochet two tube for the legs.

Chain 27 and close with a ss.

r01 t/m r07: sc27 (=27)

Fasten of and crochet another one.
Don’t fasten off this one, but crochet further.
t08: sc25 v (the 2nd), crochet further around the first leg: sc 25. In the crotch of the shorts there are
skipped 2 stitches. These you’ll sew together later.
t10: [sc 8 , dec2 ] 5x (=45)
t11: sc 3, dec 2, [sc 7, dec 2] 4x, sc 4 (=40)
t12: [sc 6, dec 2] 5x (=35)
t13: sc 2, dec 2, [sc 5, dec 2] 4x, sc 3 (=30)
t14 t/m t16: sc30
r17: ch2 , hdc 1, hdc 1 in the stitch before, skip one stitch, [hdc 1, hdc 1 in the stitch before, skip 1
stitch] repeat until the end of the round.
Fasten off you thread.
Now sew the stitches together.

Variations:
• You can choose to put a ribbon or crochet chain through the holes in the shorts.
• You can make the legs of the trousers longer by adding 7 rounds (so 14 rounds in total). The
short trousers are there just above the knee.
• If you want to embellish your trousers then you could e.g. fold little threads of yarn together
and put it through every stitch of the legs.

Your Barbie’s new outfit is ready to wear!
