The Israelites were commanded not to have a King

in the manner of the other nations. This was because

the Israelites were to be ruled by a Priest or

" Levitical King ". Moses was already declared the

Priest King.

Deuteronomy 33:4-5

When Moses charged us with the teaching as the

heritage of the congregation of Jacob. Then He(Moses)

became King in Jeshurun

Moses was annoited Priest King at Sinai. The rebellious Israelites

insisting on a King in the manner of the other nations resulted in

the annointing of Saul. Saul of course was removed by the Lord

and replaced by David who marked the restoration of the

Priest Kings.David's line was promised eternal rule because it fulfilled what was already
promised to Moses. When the Lord's wrath kindled

against the Israelites. He told Moses that he was going to destroy

all of the Israelites and make of Moses a greater nation. This was because the line of Moses
was to be the eternal promise Kingship.
Numbers 14:11-12

And the Lord Said to Moses,"How long will this people spurn Me,and how long will they have no
faith...I will strike them with

pestilence and disown them and I will make of you a nation

far more numerous than they.

Joseph was the first Priest King to rule over Israel. However since the Priesthood of Israel was
given to Levi the Priest King line would

also have to come from Levi and accordingly Moses replaced Joseph.

Just as Joseph brought the Israelites into Egypt Moses would take

them out. The descendants of Joseph and his favored full brother

Benjamin resented the transfer of power to the Levitical line. In response after the departure of
Moses they appointed Joshua of Ephraim/Joseph (1 Chronicles 7:20-27)to be the leader of
Israel.

Saul of Benjamin(the favored and only full brother of Joseph) became

King. This of course angered the Levites and the Judahites(Priestly singers) and thus the line of
Moses was restored through David and his son Solomon. As a result of their Levitical origin the
Priest Kings being the descendants of Moses lived in the Temple. The first Israelite to rebel
against King Solomon was a descendant of Joseph named

Jeroboam(Ephraim). Jeroboam rebelled against the Levitical Kingdom and established the
independent Josephite Kingdom and Priesthood.

Acting as a Josephite Priest-King Jeroboam opposed the Levitical Priest King being Solomon by
annointing his own priests and declaring oppositional festival dates.

I Chronicles 12:32-33

He stationed at Bethel priests of the shrines that he appointed to sacrifice to the calves that he
had made. And Jeroboam established a festival on the 15th day of the 8th month in imitation of
the festival in Judah,he established one at Bethel and he ascended the altar there. On the 15th
day of the 8th month, the month of which he contrived of his own mind a festival for the
Israelites, Jeroboam ascended the altar that he made in Bethel.

The Kingdom split in Israel was actually a split between the Josephite and Levitical King Priests
being the descendants of Joseph and Moses. This is why the original teachings on the messiah
taught of two messiahs, one being a Priestly Messiah from Levi and a descendant of Joseph
called Moshiach Ben Yosef. In this split the Benjamites sided against the Josephite Kingdom of
Jeroboam as they hoped to restore the line of Saul to power by destroying the Davidic Kingdom
from within.....PT 1

Early Christians acknowledged that Jesus and John the Baptist were Levites. It is also
acknowledged that Jesus mother Mary and John's mother Elizabeth were related.

pp.41: The strength of the Levitical tradition may be gauged from the Mandean literature. The
descendants of the followers of John the Baptist asserted that he was descended from Moses
who of course was of the tribe of Levi. There were Christian authorities who also claimed Jesus
to be a Levite. Amongst them we find St.Ephraim the Syrian who informs us that," When Jesus
sent Peter to catch a fish in order to pay the tribute money(Mt.xvii-24-27) the Pharisees went
with him. And when he had drawn out the fish which had in its mouth a stater, the symbol of
dominion, those haughty ones were reproved and confounded, because they believed not that he
was a Levite to whom the sea and fishes were witnesses that he is KING AND PRIEST."

The Qaran refers to Jesus as being of the Family of Amran.Amran being the father of both
Moses and Aaron. The Messiah Jesus fulfilled the eternal promise to the line of Moses as the
King of Jeshurun. Jesus being a descendant of David verifies David's descent from Moses. In
the parallel between Joseph and Moses. They both have wives whose father's were
priests. They both have two sons. They both name their eldest sons names concerning their
exile. Joseph named his first born Manessah meaning God has made me forget my hardship
and my paternal home. Moses named his first Gershom meaning that he was a stranger in a
strange land. Just as Joseph's younger son Ephraim was placed above Manessah, Moses'
younger son Eliezar was placed above Gershom and it was his descendants that would be the
Kings of Jeshurun(Israel) The Eliezar of Moses also paralleled with Eliezar the son of Aaron.
Both being the most numerous amongst their brethren. Moses' grandson Rehabiah became a
numerous multitude and like wise the descendants of Eliezar the son of Aaron.

I Chronicles 23:15

The sons of Moses Gershom and Eliezar. The sons of Gershom Shebuel the chief, and the
sons of Eliezar were Rehabiah the Chief.Eliezar had no other sons but the sons of Rehabiah
were very numerous
