Tuesday

Eli Nguyen- Faber Book 1, pg. 28 “Kites in the Sky” and pg. 30 “A Mixed up Song”
 Eli still has trouble reading notes but has been improving. We’ve been naming notes
based off Pokemon names to help him remember what notes are where.

Alice- Faber pg. 36 “Middle C March”

 Alice just started this piece but she’s slowly getting used to reading notes on the staff

Neil- Alfred pg. 39 “Mexican Hat Dance” and pg. 41 “Rock Song”
 We learned quarter rests last week
 He likes to draw so I always tell him that if he can remain focused for the first 25
minutes I let him use the last few minutes to draw on the whiteboard.

Zyreen- Alfred, pg. 44 “Play a Fourth” pg. 45 “July the Fourth” and pg. 48 “My Fifth”
 We’ve been using names of animals to remember the names of notes

Ivanna- Haydn Piano Sonata and Schumann “Merry Farmer”

 She’s been working slowly on getting both hands together for the Haydn, and for the
Schumann, she’s working on finishing the first page

Ivan- Scarlatti Piano Sonata and Mendelssohn Songs Without Words

 He needs a lot of work being consistent with fingering and finding the right octave for
the left hand.

Kamryn- Bach Minuet in G major

 We’ve been working slowly on playing the entire piece both hands- she’s now on the
second page

Alana- Mix of Queen and Elton John music

 We’ve been working on improvising and introducing different ways to manipulate a
melody.
 I usually just give pointers on the music and help with fingering

Wednesday

Lilliana- Absent

Christopher- Faber pg. 12 “Looking- Glass River”

 We’ve been working on consistency with fingering, tempo, and musicality

Jace- Alfred “Rain, Rain” and “Happy Song”

 We’ve been working on learning the notes of the staff slowly. He’s pretty good with
reading the bass clef but needs work with the treble. We’ve been putting names of
Pokemon for each note

Zoe- Moonlight Sonata, We Wish You a Merry Christmas

 We’ve been working on an abridged version of Moonlight Sonata- we’ve gotten to the
second line and she has a habit of not looking at the music while she’s playing
 I assigned her a Christmas piece to start as well last week, so I told her to have some of
that learned by this Wednesday

Meg- Christmas music

 I assigned Meg Christmas music to start reading over- she sometimes needs help
reading bass clef but overall she is a quick learner

Lexa- My Robot
 Lexa has a hard time remembering her notes- we’ve been slowly reviewing the names of
the notes on the staff for the past few weeks. She also forgets where the notes are on
the piano. She also might forget what piece she’s working on, so just in case she says
we’ve been working on something earlier, we’ve been working on “My Robot” in the
Alfred book.

Mila- “The Dancer” and Thousand Years

 Mila is pretty good at reading the music and understanding musicality, but her biggest
problem is rhythm and tempo.
