 Do not write in first person, such as “I” or “we”, but write in third person and/or passive voice.
This is applicable to the entire report not just the ES: no writing in first person anywhere in the
report.
 Write in either past tense or present/past participle. Do not write your ES in future tense.
 The first paragraph should contain your background information and objective(s).
 The second paragraph should have your key findings.
 The third paragraph should have your recommendations.
 Note: you may have more or less paragraphs than suggested above.

vi. Internal and external legal and regulatory compliance requirements


(a) Outline at least two internal legal and regulatory compliance requirements
o E.g. NZ Tax Compliance: The New Zealand tax system is based on a
broad-base low rate framework. This means that taxes are applied with
few concessions or exemptions.
(b) Outline at least two external legal and regulatory compliance requirements
o E.g. Fair Trading Act: Business entities must comply with the Fair
Trading Act (1986). The purpose of this Act is to protect the interests of
consumers, encourage fair competition between businesses and to
maintain privacy of both consumers and businesses.
(c) Discuss how the chosen internal and external legal and regulatory compliance
requirements influence organisational policy in business entities in New Zealand.

vii. Analysis of the internal environmental factors and their effects on Fonterra’s
performance.

performance.
Your analysis must include four of the five:

 At least one organisational policy, driven by external legal and regulatory compliance
requirements, e.g. health & safety regulations, consumer information & labelling
 An economic factor e.g. interest rates, exchange rates
 Technology and social trends e.g. online purchasing, AI
 Sustainable management e.g. environmental, needs of present/future generations

(a) Determineand discuss two environmental factors that are likely to have the most
impact on business performance at Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited.

(b) Compare your findings (two environmental factors above) with regards to
Fonterra Co-Operative Group Limited with at least one other New Zealand
organization where the relative importance of environmental factors may
differ.

x. Conclusion and Recommendations


 Reflect on the analysis and draw three conclusions about the relative
importance of the different environmental factors to different organisations within
a New Zealand business context.
