Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Greetings of peace.

The Shrine will be closed entirely on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, 2019. Part of the reason is that
our lay staff has a holiday on that day, and part of the reason is that the City is beginning significant work on
the sidewalk on Arch Street in front of our building on that day. We plan to be open on Tuesday and
Wednesday, but we should all expect some pedestrian detours with certain doors closed on those two days.
The plan is that the work on the sidewalk will be finished by Wednesday afternoon, barring delays due to
weather, etc.

The popular Fr. Michael Reyes, OFM, will be at the Shrine on Saturday, December 7, 2019. Fr. Michael
resides in New York City. He will celebrate the usual 4pm Mass in the Second Floor Church. That Mass will
be the Vigil for the Second Sunday in Advent, as one would expect. We extend a special invitation to the
Filipino community to attend this Mass with our regular 4pm-Saturday worship community. The friars and
staff of the Shrine are very grateful for the large presence of the Filipino community at the Shrine and for
their inspiring witness of faith. Some part of the Mass will be in one of the Filipino languages/dialects.

We continue to be grateful for our partnership with St. Francis House on Boylston Street. They have a full
array of sophisticated services for the homeless. Depending on the situation, we refer many homeless people
in need to St. Francis House and recommend that you do the same.

Fr. Thomas Conway, OFM
