Max Ansell
Sunderland College is a large general further education college with provision across a number of
campuses. It offers students a range of A-level, professional and technical courses at level 3. All
students participate in a comprehensive personal development programme, which supports
students preparing for Higher Education and employment. Students are able to participate in a wide
range of sporting, social and cultural enrichment activities.
NextGen at Sunderland College is a thriving course covering animation, games and VFX. The students
are encouraged to undertake group projects and individual study to achieve original and well
researched outcomes.
Maximillian has been a very successful student on this course. With high academic performance and
the potential to move on to much greater endeavours. Max has the ability and tenacity to push
himself, particularly in the areas of animation and games design. He is constantly working outside of
college and will be here most days of the week. This is surprising as Max works part time also, but
still finds the time to work hard and create some excellent outcomes.
Max takes part in game jams, producing his own artwork and code. This has led to him being entered
for a BAFTA for his game design achievements.
I feel Max will be hugely successful on an HE course as he has the ability to acquire and utilise
knowledge, with a mature and dedicated ethic towards his study.
James Barnett
James is a competent student with a great ability to manage workload and to create some successful
outcomes within his projects. James can work well both within groups and on his own, with research
and analysis forming the core of his result.
James shows creativity and flair with the results being some great looking work in all aspects of the
course. The solid work ethic and ability to use his time wisely will result in James being a very good
candidate for an HE course.
Bailey Brian
Bailey is a competent student with a good ability to manage workload and to create some successful
products within his designs. Bailey can work well both within groups and on his own, with
investigation and analysis forming the basis of his results.
Bailey shows an affinity for what looks good and works well with other objects and images. This has
resulted in some very excellent work from Bailey. The solid work ethic, and ability to use his time
wisely will result in Bailey being a very good candidate for an HE course.
Mathew Dickson
Mathew is a capable student with a good ability to manage assignments and to create some
excellent products within his designs. Mathew can work well both individually and as part of a team,
with investigation and analysis forming the basis of his results.
Mathew shows an ability to create some very appealing outcomes. These are well researched and
Mathew will look to improve through iteration; only happy when he is satisfied he has carried out his
best. This has resulted in some very good work from Mathew. The solid work ethic and ability to use
his time wisely will result in Mathew being a very good candidate for the BA(hons) degree.
Daniel Forrester
Daniel is a capable student with a good ability to manage assignments and to create some good
products on the course. Daniel can work well both individually and as part of a team, with idea
development and research forming the basis of the results.
Daniel shows an ability to create some competent outcomes. This has generally been to a technical
capacity with thought to the design process showing some good pieces. Daniel can cope well with
self-directed study and has proved this on the NextGen course. The skills and work ethic Daniels has
developed and shown will make him a good candidate for a degree course.
Luke Gaskill
Luke is a competent student with a good ability to manage workload and to create some successful
products within his designs. Luke can work well both within groups and on his own, with
Luke is a keen student in class. He keeps to the task and asks relevant questions that build on his
skills.
Luke shows an ability to create some competent outcomes. Research is paramount to this process
with a good presentation of others ideas and work that has been influential to Luke. Luke can cope
well with self-directed study and has proved this on the NextGen course. The skills and work ethic
Luke’s has developed and shown will make him a good candidate for a degree course.
Abbie Kitching
Abbie is a creative and competent student. She uses her design skill to provide us with some very
competent and appealing digital outcomes. Abbie is excellent at meeting deadlines and keeping
record of her progress. She uses fluent writing to provide a response to a brief that is both well
created and well researched.
Abbie works well independently and as part of a team, providing her team with great ideas and
work. All of the above makes Abbie an appealing prospect for a degree in her chosen subject.
Anthony Lakeman
Anthony has been a creative and competent student. He has the ability to meet outcomes that show
his passion for the subject he has chosen to pursue. I class Anthony shows a good commitment to his
work, with an ability to work away from college to meet deadlines.
Anthony can research well, using the work of others to help meet outcomes with originality and
ingenuity.
Anthony has the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This is a big requirement of the
Next Gen course and Anthony has risen to this side. He can discuss issues and help others within his
team.
I feel that the skills Anthony has developed and the critical thinking he shows he will be suited to life
on a degree course.
Jacob Lawther
Jacob is a capable student with a good ability to manage assignments and to create some good
products on the course. Jacob can work well both individually and as part of a team, with idea
Jacob asks some good and engaging questions in class. This leads Jacob to make changes and
develop his work visually and academically.
Jacob shows an ability to create some competent outcomes. This has generally been to a good
technical capacity with thought to the design process showing some good pieces. Jacob can cope
well with self-directed study and has proved this on the NextGen course. The skills and work ethic
Jacob has developed and shown will make him a good candidate for a degree course.
Luke McFarlane
Luke is a student that strives to do his best in all aspects of the course. He definitely sways towards
game development with much of his output being concerned with this area. Luke has some excellent
ideas and this shows in the diversity and creativity in his design.
Luke works hard to document the process, research and analytical aspects of his work. He keeps his
progress up to date and exceeds expectations on a regular basis.
Luke works independently and as part of a team in equal measures. He is able to discuss outcomes
and implement changes or new ideas drawn from group dialogue.
Luke, through his passion and ability to carry out modules with genuine eagerness and technical
ability, would make a very competent HE student. I can wholeheartedly recommend him for this.
Josh Moulding
Josh has been developing extremely well in terms of his output, outcomes and his ability to meet the
requirements of modules. His work is taking on a greater professionalism; this is the result of Josh
using feedback and the work of others to push his own ideas and outcomes.
Josh asks some good and engaging questions in class. This leads Josh to make changes and develop
his work visually and academically.
Josh shows an ability to create some competent outcomes. This has generally been to a good
technical capacity with thought to the design process; showing some good pieces. Josh can cope well
with self-directed study and has proved this on the NextGen course. The skills and work ethic Josh
has developed and shown will make him a good candidate for a degree course.
Leighton Potter
Leighton has been developing extremely well in terms of his output, outcomes and his ability to
meet the requirements of modules. His work is taking on greater professionalism; this is the result of
Leighton using feedback and the work of others to push his own ideas and outcomes.
Leighton asks some good and engaging questions in class. This leads Leighton to make changes and
develop his work visually and academically.
Leighton shows an ability to create some good outcomes. This has been to a good technical capacity
with thought to the design process; showing some good pieces. Leighton can cope well with self-
directed study and has proved this on the NextGen course. The skills and work ethic Leighton has
Aiden Render
Aiden has shown that he can use software in a resourceful and creative capacity. This has often
allowed him to develop original and appealing answers to modules and tasks. Aiden has the
academic ability to research, evaluate and analyse his own work and that of others; to improve and
build knowledge.
Aiden is a quiet student who gets on with the task, but this has not detracted from his ability to work
in a group. Here he is a key part as his outcomes are good and his opinions are acted upon.
Through his willingness to learn and his attitude to coursework I feel Aiden would be an excellent HE
student. His focus on game design has been paramount to his success on the NextGen course.
Nathan Richardson
Nathan is a student that strives to do his best in all aspects of the course. Nathan has some excellent
ideas and this shows in the creativity and variety in the designs he produces.
Nathan works hard to document the process, research and analytical aspects of his work. He keeps
his progress up to date and exceeds expectations on a regular basis.
Nathan works independently and as part of a team in equal measures. He is able to discuss
outcomes and implement changes or new ideas drawn from group dialogue.
Through his willingness to learn and his attitude to coursework I feel Nathan would be an excellent
HE student. His focus on game design has been paramount to his success on the NextGen course.
Tom Robson
Tom is a student that endeavours to do his best in all facets of the course. Tom has some excellent
ideas and this shows in the diversity and creativity in his designs.
Tom works hard to document the process, research and analytical aspects of his work. He keeps his
progress up to date and exceeds expectations on a regular basis.
Tom works independently and as part of a team in equal measures. He is able to discuss outcomes
and implement changes or new ideas drawn from group dialogue.
Tom, through his passion and ability to carry out modules with genuine passion and technical ability,
would make a very competent HE student. I can unswervingly recommend him for this.
Ethan Rogers
Ethan is a capable student with a good ability to manage assignments and to create some good
products on the course. Ethan can work well both individually and as part of a team, with idea
Ethan can use research and analysis to develop some good ideas. This is documented well to form
the basis of his module submissions.
Ethan shows an ability to create some competent outcomes. This has generally been to a technical

Liam Rutherford
Liam is a very competent student with an ability to manage workload and to create some successful
products within his designs. Liam can work well both within groups and on his own, with
Liam is a keen student in class. He keeps to the task and asks relevant questions that build on his
skills. These skills have been growing since the beginning of the course and due to his fantastic work
ethic should continue to grow.
Liam shows an ability to create some great outcomes. Research is paramount to this process with a
good presentation of others ideas and work that has been influential to Liam. Liam can cope well
with self-directed study and has proved this on the NextGen course. The skills and work ethic Liam
has developed and shown will make him a very good candidate for a degree course.
David Scouler
David is a very keen student and desires to understand and develop the entire process and idea. He
allows himself to fully immerse himself in the task at hand; creating documents and discussing ideas
with peers and tutors prior to developing his work.
David works very well in groups, directing the others in a mutual outcome that David has a complete
vision and faith in. The end product is very important to David and this is the very goal that he
focuses on through the whole process.
Documentation is not the main priority, but David is a very articulate and a scholarly individual. His
ideas are taken from examining the work of others and adapting this to his needs.
David could be very successful at an HE level as this would allow David to explore and develop within
the boundaries of a module or task.
Brandon Sloan
Brandon is a capable student with a good ability to manage assignments and to create some good
products on the course. Brandon can work well both individually and as part of a team, with idea
Brandon can use research and analysis to develop some good ideas. This is documented well to form
Brandon shows an ability to create some competent outcomes. This has generally been to a
technical capacity with some thought to the design process; showing some good pieces. Brandon

Connor Stokoe
