Production Proposal:

This show represents the importance of women standing up for themselves and realizing that it
does not take a man to succeed. This message is an amazing example to the young women of
today, and the audiences it affects. Not only is this show witty and full of funny moments and
show stopping numbers, it brings out the very humanity in all of us asking if we are ready to
stand up with these women instead of putting them down or shutting them out. Whenever I
direct a show I must always find a take-away for not only the students but the audience seeing
the production, and this show is a perfect example of both.
With a large ensemble this show has amazing opportunities for both women and men
and a diverse group of people. In addition to the actors onstage, I’d like to also start to focus on
the skills that go into carpentry, set painting and other technical elements with students who
are ready to learn, but maybe just not on-stage. I have begun to contact friends and colleagues
to come in and do some smaller workshops with the kids to facilitate this learning experience.
