Dates the student will be at the setting & what they will be doing: Every Saturday from 23/03/2019- 8-06-
2019. Student will be teaching Arabic to primary students. This includes teaching writing, reading and
spelling from the Arabic alphabet. As well as supervision on playground duty.

We agree to place the above named student for the professional experience placement on the dates
nominated, equivalent to 60 hours.

Rationale
What are you expecting to gain from your learning in your PPCE setting? I am expecting to
gain the understanding and knowledge of how to deliver teaching in a variety of styles
(knowing students and how they learn). Also, I hope to gain the understanding of how to
manage disruptive behaviour effectively. Hence, working in an educational environment will
give me the experience required to understand how it will be like when I go on my practical.
Even more, I will gain the knowledge that will enable me to reflect on my strengths and
weaknesses, and to develop the weaknesses for future teacher environments (engage in
professional learning). It will also allow me to supervise on lunch duties, ensuring safety and
supportive environments of the students is maintained and established at all times (skills
(create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments).
What additional knowledge do you need before commencing? I have undertaken Arabic
courses in primary and secondary Arabic education. I have learnt how to read and write in
Arabic. As such, this will enable me to be prepared to prepare lesson plans.
What you hope to learn in this setting? I hope to learn how to behave and experience how it
feels to be in a teaching environment. This setting will provide me with the growth I need to
reflect on my teaching practices and pedagogy.
What goals do you hope to achieve at the setting? My goals are to achieve effective
behaviour management skills (create and maintain supportive and safe learning
environments), developing engagement in classrooms, incorporating differentiation into the
lessons, understanding how to deal with complex situations when they arise. Also, to gain the
knowledge that will help me in the future as a teacher. I also hope that it will allow me to
learn how to collaborate and communicate with the parents of the students, to develop
positive and rich learning experiences (engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers
and the community).
What do you believe the participants in your service learning project will learn from
you? The students will learn how to read, write and spell the Arabic alphabet (know the
content and how to teach it). Most importantly, they will learn the Arabic alphabet and how
to pronounce and write letters from the alphabet.
How will these experiences shape you as a teacher in a classroom? Will enable me to learn
my weaknesses to reflect on what needs to be improved for the future. It will enable me to
grow as a teacher to be more competent in my job and effectively deal with appropriate
pedagogy. It will enable me to learn diverse teaching styles.
How would you help someone else learn what you discovered? I would help someone else
learn what I discovered by teaching them what I learnt and allowing them to learn by giving
feedback, highlighting the main concepts and themes that emerged from the experience.
