I. OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT STANDARD The learner demonstrates understanding of: East Asian Literature as an art
from inspired and influenced by nature; relationship of visual, sensory, ad
verbal signals in both literary and expository texts; strategies in listening to
long descriptive and narrative texts; value of literal and figurative language;
and appropriate grammatical signals or expressions suitable to patterns of
idea development.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD The learner transfers learning by composing and delivering a brief and
creative entertainment speech featuring a variety of effective paragraphs ,
appropriate grammatical signals or expressions in topic development, and
appropriate prosodic feature, stance, and behavior.

a. Preparatory Activities
1. Daily Routine
a. Prayer Let the learners stand up for a prayer.
b. Greetings Good morning class, how are you?
c. Checking of Attendance Let the assigned class secretary checked the attendance.

Give plus points if there’s no absent.


d. Checking of Assignment Let the learners submit their assignment.
2. Priming Start the lesson by posting the word “WORLD WAR II ,” on the board.
Let the students put words that best associate to the given word. (Many
words list down that is correct will be declared winners).

b. Lesson Proper
a. Activity “Activity 1.1: Find the Past and Predict the Future!”
Each group shall do the following:
 Skim the selection: “The Diary of Ann”
 Examine what you know about World War II and jot down the
words that come to your mind when you consider the term’s
meaning and importance
 Go over the following paragraph as quickly as you can then guess
or make predictions on the main idea of the paragraph
 Get an overview of the text thru titles, subtitles and introduction
After skimming the given text, distinguish the positive and negative
messages conveyed in the texts.
Group I: (Spatial) They will use a pictorial models such as flow chart or
visual maps that best represent the title, subtitles and introduction of the text
read.
Group II: (Bodily-Kinesthetic) They will present a pantomime play that
will showcase the highlighted events in the texts.
Group III- (Verbal-Linguistic) They will impart the overview of the text
read through a story telling based on the text read.
Group IV- (Interpersonal) They will collaborate to come up with the
positive and negative messages conveyed on the text.
b. Analysis Process questions for collaboration and brainstorming:
 How’s the activity?
 What did you feel after the activity? Did you enjoy?
 Based on the different activities performed, what is skimming?
 How does skimming help you in understanding the text? Is
skimming enough to comprehend the text?
 How effective is the skimming approach?
c. Abstraction The teacher will end up by saying a conclusion that, “Skimming is one skill
which can help you get a quick overview of material you are reading.”
d. Application “Apply the skimming techniques.”
(Interpersonal)
Read the poem entitled, “Out in the Fields with God.”
Present the overall idea in a very creative way after doing the skimming by
group.
e. Assessment 1. What are the positive and negative messages conveyed in the poem?
f. Additional activities for application or Study the elements of a poem.
