INTRODUCTION
• security is the major problem in many fields
• due to robberies, fire accidents and blasts due to LPG gas leakage.
• LPG gas can be used in the car, in the storage tank or service station.
• due to some reasons the LPG gas might leak from the gas cylinders,
this may cause the cylinder blast, damage the house and risk of a life
• The fire ignite can be occurred due to many reasons(electrical short
circuit, oil lamps or candles kept inside the house).
• Sometimes fire accidents are very small,
• but if proper action is not taken to control the fire, then it can spread in
complete house.
• To overcome this problem, an LPG gas sensor is used to detect the
presence of a dangerous LPG gas.

CONSTRUCTION AND TESTING

MCET,S5 EEE 6
CONSTRUCTION
• Assemble the circuit on a PCB
• enclose it in a box with an opening for the gas to enter.
• Place the unit near the LPG cylinder or gas stove, within a
distance of one metre.
• Vary preset VR1 to adjust sensitivity of the sensor.
• Verify the voltages before using the circuit.
• Now, spray the gas from the bottle towards MQ-6 gas sensor
• measure voltage at TP3; it should be high.

MCET,S5 EEE 7
CONSTRUCTION
• If you do not have a gas-filled bottle, place the LPG leakage
detector near the gas stove burner.
• turn it on for a few seconds without igniting.
• turn the burner off
• adjust VR1 until buzzer sounds.

MCET,S5 EEE 8
WORKING
• Reference voltage at non-inverting pin 3 of IC2 is set using
potmeterVR1.
• LPG sensor (MQ-6) output voltage is fed to inverting pin 2 of
IC2.
• If reference voltage (pin 3 of IC2) is less than sensor voltage
(pin 2 of IC2), output goes low.
• Low output indicates no leakage of LPG.
• With low output, T1 remains cut-off and there is no current
flow through the buzzer
• The buzzer does not sound.

MCET,S5 EEE 9
WORKING

• If reference voltage is greater than sensor voltage,

output goes high.
• This indicate LPG leakage.
• The high output switches on transistor T1.
• the buzzer rings loudly to alert the people.
• It is very easy to find gas leakages with this circuit.

MCET,S5 EEE 10
APPLICATIONS
• Domestic gas leakage detector
• Industrial combustible gas detector
• Portable gas detectors
• LPG storage
• Factories
• Hotels
• Gas cars

MCET,S5 EEE 11
FEATURES
• Quick reaction from sensor
• Small sensitivity for MQ3 means alcohol sensor give
additional feature in the system
• High sensitivity of LPG sensor

MCET,S5 EEE 12
ADVANTAGES
• Low cost components are used.
• Interactive way to adjust different sensitivity level.
• Based on customer needs.
• Very useful in LPG/CNG fitted car to avoid measure
accident.
• Prevent measure accident in gas agencies where
multicylinder stored

MCET,S5 EEE 13
DISADVANTAGES
• Intensity of sound depends on the quality of material
• The security action is impossible when no one is there
in home.

MCET,S5 EEE 14
CONCLUSION
• This instrument prevents major accidents causes
during LPG gas and provides safety for the people.
• This innovation will be a great affect to the society.
• This is a cost effective appliance.
