Detailed Lesson Plan in English Grade 7

I. Objective
At the end of the lesson the student must be able to:
A. Know the rules in forming plural from of nouns
B. Relate the rules in making a sentence
C. Apply the plural form of nouns in a sentence

C. Motivation
The students will be grouped into four (4) ten the teacher will give one item per group to
be used in giving the plural name of it and they will like it in a sentence.

Each group will give the plural form of nouns given bellow

3. Cervix

Plural Nouns: Rules and its example
1. To make regular nouns plural add-s to the end
Ex: Cat - Cats house - houses
2. If the singular noun ends in –s, -ss, -sh, -x, or –z, and –es to the end to make it plural.
Ex: trees – tresses marsh – marshes
Blitz – Blitzes lunch - lunches
Tax – taxes
3. In some cases, singular nouns ending in –s, or –z, require that you double the –es for
pluralization .
Ex: fezz - fezzes bus – buses/ busses
Gas-gases
4. If the noun ends with –f or fe the –f is often changed to –ve before adding the –s to
form the floral version.
Ex: wife – wives Exceptions: roof – roofs
Wolf – wolves Belief – Beliefs

5. Most nouns ending in –y preceded by a consonant form plural by changing –y into –I


and add –es nouns ending in –y preceded by a vowel form plural by adding –s.
Ex: Story - Stories Day - days
6. Most nouns ending –in, -o form plural by adding –es.
Ex: mango - mangoes
Volcano - volcanoes
7. If the (u) singular noun -us, the plural ending is frequently –i
Ex: cactus - cacti / cactuses
8. If the singular noun ends in –is , the plural ending is -es
Ex: analysis - analyses
Ellipses - ellipses
9. If the singular noun ends is –on the plural ends is –a
Ex: Phenomenon - Phenomena

10. Irregular nouns change their spelling when some are pluralized
Ex: Sheep - Sheep species
