(2 minute)
I’ll tell the students: “today you are going to finish your projects. I’ll give you the first 40 minutes to finish and then
I’d like you to agree on what each of you arise going to say. Remember that all the members have to say
something, and that your presentation must last between 4 to 7 minutes. I’d like to see your scripts or notes on
what you are going to say. You’ll present your projects on Friday”.

(5 minutes)
Before that, I’d like to know… what makes a presentation “good”? Have you ever “presented” something,
even in Spanish? How did it go? Do you know what a TED talk is? Have you ever seen a one? They are
presentations on a wide variety of topics, you can visit their page and find a “talk” on almost anything!!
Today, I’d like to show a very short one, just to see if you think it’s good, and why or not and why.

Activity 1. (10 minutes).

I’ll say: “We are going to watch a video twice. The first time, I’d just like you to watch and listen. Imagine you are
attending that talk. Are you entertained by the speaker and interested in what he is saying?”. Commented [AV2]: What about commenting on the
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8S0FDjFBj8o content of the talk itself?
We’ll watch the video again this time I’ll say: This time, I’d like you to take notes about these things:
- Elements of presentations
- Body language
- Tone of voice
- Interaction with the audience

After the second time, I’ll give them a few minutes to finish taking their notes and we’ll share the answers.

Scaffolding Strategies:
I’ll include subtitles in the video. As it is authentic material, it is not adapted to the students´ English level and
listening skills, so subtitles will help all of them understand what the talk is about. Commented [AV3]: In L2?

Activity 2. (40 minutes).

I’ll give students enough time to finish their props for the presentation of the play. I’ll say: “Now, I’ll give you 40
minutes to finish your projects, remember that I need to be able to understand what the story is about from your
presentation”.

Scaffolding Strategies:
I’ll move around the classroom aiding with vocabulary, making sure they are using the agreeing and disagreeing
phrases, correcting pronunciation and praising the students on their work. I’ll make the posters big enough so that
everyone at the back can easily read them. I’ll display the posters on the classroom wall so that students can get
back to them any time they need to.

Activity 3. (17 minutes)

I’ll tell the students that they have 15 minutes to decide what they are going to say. They’ll need to write a
script or at least take detailed notes of the content of their presentation.

(3 minutes)
I’ll tell the students that they will have to study their parts at home and be ready to give their presentation on Friday.
I’ll also tell them to make sure that whoever takes the project home, MUST make sure it is here on Friday.
