Power plant had a reputation of being one of the most hazardous workplace environments.

Workers in
the power plant face many safety risks due to the nature of the job. Although power plants are safer
nowadays since the industry has urged the employer to improve their employees’ safety, the employees
still stumble upon many hazards thus accidents at workplace. The aim of the present study is to
investigate work related accidents at power plants based on HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk
Assessment and Risk Control) process. The data were collected at two coal-fired power plant located in
Malaysia. The finding of the study identified hazards and assess risk relate to accidents occurred at the
power plants. The finding of the study suggested the possible control measures and corrective actions to
reduce or eliminate the risk that can be used by power plant in preventing accidents from
occurred(Ahmad, Zin, Othman, & Muhamad, 2016)

The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 1994 was enforced on 24th February 1994 with the aim
to make further provision for securing the safety, health and welfare of person at work thus protecting
them against any risks. Safety standards are designed to reduce to an acceptable level the risks inherent
in the use of dangerous materials and potentially dangerous procedures or practices. All lecture
theatres, classrooms or laboratories can be inherently dangerous places and the attitudes and actions of
users can determine their own safety, their colleagues and ultimately that of the community.(Muniandy,
2015)

The article offers news briefs on different security measurements taken by police departments of the
U.S. as of February 2013. California-based company Omega Group has launched a new predictive tool
CrimeView for San Diego Police Department to help them reinforce their force in regions where
prediction for potential criminal activities is high. Social networking sites Pinterest and Facebook have
been used by Pottstown, Pennsylvania Police Department to spread awareness among its
citizens.(Baker, 2013)

Road accident analysis has come to attention as traffic fatalities has increased significantly. There are
few causes of road accidents which are preventable. The number of accidents in the main campus, UiTM
Shah Alam is high due to its large population. The aim of this study is to assess the trend of road
accident in UiTM Shah Alam. The findings could determine the hot spots where accidents frequently
occur by mapping road accident at the campus site and evaluate the related physical risks. For this
purpose, traffic accident data from 2009 until 2013 had been collected and tabulated in Geographical
Information System (GIS) for analysis. GIS is identifies accident hotspot in UiTM Shah Alam. At the
hotspot locations, HiRARC (Hazard Identification Risk Analysis and Risk Control) was conducted. The
study reveals that the trend of road accidents in UiTM Shah Alam from 2009 to 2012 has been
decreasing. Despite the descending trend in the overall number of accidents, incidents in hotspot
location identified by GIS however has increased. From the GIS Melati College, Delima College junction,
Perindu College junction and Seroja College junction was found to be hotspots for accidents in UiTM
Shah Alam. Results from HiRARC in descending order showed that Melati College recorded the highest
score of risk which is 55, followed by Delima College junction (39), Perindu College junction (29) and
finally Seroja College junction (22) with motorcycles being the main vehicle involved. Although road
accident pattern in UiTM Shah Alam is decreasing, hotspot locations needs attention(Heberd, Razali,
Mahalingam, & Tiong, 2016)

In this paper, we propose novel implementation ideas for service platforms in emerging heterogeneous
wireless networks. We focus on the characteristics that service platforms for B3G (beyond 3G)
environments should exhibit and describe a structured and analytical methodology for building such
platforms. The validity of this methodology is further established by applying it to the case of the IST-
MOTIVE system. This case study not only justifies the platform development methodology presented
here, but also allows researchers to further develop innovative services and applications based on the
MOTIVE system.(Chemical & Competition, 2001)

The combination of hazard evaluation and risk analysis is an organized effort to pinpoint weaknesses in
the design and operation of facilities that could lead to accidental or unintentional chemical releases,
fires or explosions. These studies assist organizations with the goal of improving safety and managing
the risk of operations. However, reported data on incidents in academic chemistry laboratories indicates
that the accident rate is 10-50 times higher than that in industrial laboratories. These data suggest that
risk reduction efforts in academic laboratories are less successful than those practiced by the chemical
industry. Investigation findings of accidents in academic laboratories often point to the absence of a risk
analysis of the synthesis that led to the accident. This paper discusses the relationship between the
hazards and consequences of an upset event, the likelihood of the upset happening, and the resulting
risk to personnel, property and the environment. Some well-established risk procedures have been
adapted to the task of hazard identification and risk assessment in the chemical research laboratory.
These risk studies are preceded by a Chemical Hazard Review that is used to identify those aspects of a
chemical synthesis that could have a hazardous outcome if there is an upset or a deviation from the
desired synthesis procedure. A powerful advantage of this approach is that it encourages and enables a
research laboratory group to consider less obvious ways in which an upset may occur, even though it
may seem unlikely at first consideration. The risk assessment becomes much more than a mechanistic
check-list type of review making it more likely that potential failures and problems, not previously
encountered with this activity, will be identified. © 2012 Division of Chemical Health and Safety of the

Approximately one quarter of all deaths globally are attributed to living or working in an unhealthy
environment, with household and ambient air pollution, along with exposures to ultraviolet radiation
and chemicals amongst the leading causes. At present there are no international standards for assessing
the risks of these environmental hazards. The use of heterogeneous methods to identify health risks
from environmental hazards may reduce the level of confidence the public has in the conclusions that
are made.(Chartres, Bero, & Norris, 2019)

(Casson Moreno & Cozzani, 2018)In recent years bioprocesses are becoming a cornerstone of the
production industry and have been implemented for large scale production. Despite its importance, the
safety of such processes has not been yet systematically analyzed and studied.

Complex systems often experience a long period of incubation before accidents occur. Therefore, a
proactive risk assessment is essential for process safety.(Li, Sun, Cao, He, & Cui, 2019)

This paper describes a straightforward technique designed to identify and assess the hazards of
conducting a chemical synthesis in the research environment. The approach highlights potentially
hazardous situations that could arise from the use and handling of chemicals employed during the
synthesis.(Leggett, 2012a)
